Today, June 1, South Carolina observes the first official SC GOLD SHIELD DAY, honoring the brave law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice in service for our safety. I was proud to support and vote for this law passed this year.
We also remember and honor the spouses, children, parents, and families who continue to carry that sacrifice every day.
We especially remember and pray for the family of Officer D. J. Keller and the trials they are going through. Let's also take a moment to remember our Greenwood County Fallen Officers and families listed below.
