🚁 DRONE TECHNOLOGY HELPS SAVE A LIFE 🚁

Today, the Columbia Police Department's drone program played a critical role in a water rescue response near the JB Bridge.

After receiving a call from Illinois State Police, Columbia Detective Sgt Barnett and Det. Verret deployed the department's drone (Eagle 1), quickly locating the individual in the water and providing real-time updates to responding agencies. The aerial view helped direct resources to the victim's exact location, contributing to a safe outcome.

Great dedication and work by Columbia Police Department Dispatchers, Officers, Detectives, the Columbia Fire Department, Columbia EMS and MANY other local first responder agencies that assisted.

This incident highlights the value of modern public safety technology, strong interagency teamwork, and the dedication of our first responders.

We are grateful to all agencies involved for their professionalism and commitment to protecting life.
