In the past month, Meals On Wheels Columbia has on boarded many new clients who have signed up to receive our meals. On some days, there are multiple new clients starting up! The word must be getting out that our healthful meals are delicious. Don't take it from us, here's what some of our clients have said about the diversity and flavors of our meals:

Carl Plummer, JoAnn Dekrell, and Ling Bunch, are REALTORS in our community who take time once a week to help deliver meals. They are two of many full time professionals who take time out of their busy work week to deliver meals to members of our community. We are beyond grateful for people like Carl, JoAnn, and Ling who are so generous with their time! The opening bell for the Wednesday Columbia Farmers Market just rang! Meals on Wheels Columbia, Mo is here with a table full of information on volunteering or signing up for meals! Our Community Outreach Coordinator is here and ready to answer questions and offer candy (including small boxes of Dots!). Today is also the ribbon cutting for the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture Welcome Center. We are honored to be their partner and their kitchen is providing delicious fresh meals to our clients. Congratulations CCUA on your achievements!

Meals on Wheels Columbia has been a part of the community since 1972. Kelly Mescher, a Meals on Wheels volunteer, has volunteered since 1991 when she started working with the University of Missouri.

Bob and Beverly, CCUA Volunteers, prepare multicolored beets for roasting for our clients. We love how our two nonprofits are working together. On our side, we are happy that freshly prepared meals go out weekdays delivered by our friendly volunteers. Yesterday we sat down with Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture's and Thompson Tables owner, Chef Beth, to learn more about her and her passion for making delicious food. She's had a storied career preparing meals, inspired by her history of growing up on a dairy farm in Mountain View, Missouri and attending so many church potlucks where PEOPLE COOKED with garden veggies and local ingredients. We are grateful she has brought her talents to share with our clients! She and her kitchen prepare our client meals based on senior diet recipes and using a lot of locally sourced ingredients when possible. As fresh produce season in midMissouri moves towards winter, Chef Beth has been freezing as much fresh produce that comes from the farmer's market to use all winter. Think of a Missouri peach cobbler in December!
