Bat 601 and E611 working today.

This is what the scene looked like when our 1st Shift crews arrived at a home on Knight Valley Circle this afternoon.

Firefighters found smoke pushing from all sides of the property and there was heavy fire working through the roof. All occupants of the home got out safely and there were no injuries.

The fire burned away much of the roof and two adults and one child have been left displaced. The fire was extinguished and its cause is currently under investigation.

Thank you to Fort Jackson FD for your assistance on this one.

As we get ready for Thanksgiving, we’d like to remind everyone to never fry a frozen or partially frozen turkey. The reaction with hot oil can cause dangerous flare-ups and fires.

Make sure your turkey is fully thawed, keep fryers outside and away from buildings, and always stay close by while cooking.

Stay safe and have a great Thanksgiving!

A frozen deep-fried turkey explodes as part of a demonstration by Orange County, Florida, firefighters to warn about Thanksgiving cooking safety.
