Take a minute to look over the attached graphics for the rules and allowed burn times.

The Columbia Adair County Fire Department was dispatched at 12:39 AM Thursday morning to the Adair County Transfer Station, located at 877 L Willis Road, on a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from an open-faced transfer station building used for dumping and holding garbage. Crews made entry and began fire attack, containing the fire to the structure.

Firefighters located a garbage trailer inside the building that was involved. The trailer was pulled out to allow crews to fully extinguish the fire. Damage to the structure was minimal.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.

A total of 10 volunteer firefighters responded and were on scene for approximately 1.5 hours.

Candlelight Vigil Parking Information

Parking for the Candlelight Vigil will be available in the highlighted parking lots, with a shuttle provided to transport attendees to the venue.

To access the parking lot, enter it off Russell Road via Hanley Lane. For the other lot, enter from KY 55 via Gaston Avenue. They are highlighted in yellow. Handicap parking, highlighted in red, will be available at Estes Insurance on KY 55 across the road from Post.

Please plan to arrive early and allow plenty of time to park, board the shuttle, and make your way to the event.

Today, we remember and honor Trooper Hayden Phillips, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting others.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Phillips’ family, fellow troopers, friends, and all those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

May his courage, dedication, and sacrifice never be forgotten.

God bless him and his family during this difficult time.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001—a day that changed our nation forever.

We honor the 2,977 lives lost: innocent civilians, the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.

Their courage, selflessness, and dedication continue to inspire the fire service each and every day.

The Columbia Adair County Fire Department will never forget. 🇺🇸

Thank you to Adair County Fire Extinguisher Service for the generous donation of a co2 fire extinguisher!

These types of extinguishers are used for several different types of fires that may be affected by the powder in a traditional ABC extinguisher such as computers, servers and electric motors. Also considered class C fires.

Adair County is currently under a Heat Advisory, and we want to remind everyone to take extra precautions during these dangerously hot conditions.

Earlier today, our crews responded to a hay field fire on Rexroat Road. Dry conditions and high heat allowed the fire to spread quickly, but it was brought under control safely.

Outdoor Burning Warning:
With little to no rain in the forecast over the next several days, conditions will remain very dry. This significantly increases the risk of fires spreading rapidly.

If you plan on any outdoor burning:
• Use extreme caution
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water or a hose nearby
• Avoid burning during windy conditions
• Make sure your fire is completely extinguished when you are finished.

As always, if you have an emergency, dial 911.

Stay safe, stay cool, and help us prevent fires during these dry and dangerous conditions.

We’re excited to announce that our fire department will be hosting several training classes next month, with firefighters and emergency personnel from multiple area agencies joining us for training and hands-on learning.

These classes will provide an excellent opportunity to sharpen skills, share knowledge, and work alongside departments from across the area. We want to thank State Fire Rescue Training, District 14 for the opportunity.

Full PPE and SCBA is required.

Sunday will include the 4 hours lecture of Firefighter Rescue followed by a 4 hour skills session.

Note: Firefighters taking the skills portion(s) must complete ALL skills each day to receive skills credit.

Structure Fire

The Columbia Adair County Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 5:48 a.m. on Friday morning to 60 Joe R Barbee Road for a reported fully engulfed structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-story residential home with flames showing. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the fire to the original structure. The residence sustained major damage as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.

A total of 15 firefighters responded to the scene and remained on location for approximately two hours.
