Meet your Speakers for the APSC Virtual Annual Conference: Experience of Treatment & Recovery

Lyndsay K Collins, M.A, NCC, LPC-A

Session Topic: Trauma Informed Care in Peer Recovery (co-presenter)

Lyndsay K Collins, M.A, NCC, LPC-A, began trauma work in 2017 by volunteering with a local non-profit that fights human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the upstate South Carolina. Lyndsay entered a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Colorado Christian University as part of an online cohort in March of 2017. During the final year of her master’s program, she interned at a child advocacy and sexual assault center providing trauma-informed counseling for children and adults. During this time, Lyndsay received training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). She also received training in Motivational Interviewing (MI). Lyndsay started a new job in September of 2019 with the same anti-trafficking organization she had been volunteering with previously. Through that work, she began to see the connection between substance use and trauma. She completed her Master’s in October of 2019 and received her license as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in April of this year. She now provides equine therapy for children with trauma in Wellford South Carolina and bilingual trauma therapy for adults and children in Greenville South Carolina. Lyndsay believes that we have all experienced something traumatic in our lives, but she also believes healing is possible.
