Thank you to all who joined the Annual Empowering Partners Self-Advocacy Summit. Last week, 100+ self-advocates and their supporters from around the state gathered to ponder the question: “Where We Go From Here?” We spent our time on this important day to get a refresher on our disability and civil rights history, discuss marriage equality efforts on the state and national level, and learn from some advocates how they are leveraging community partnerships to make change. Special thanks to Tracy Wright from People On The Go of Maryland and Secretary Carol Beatty from Maryland Department of Disabilities for your excellent plenary presentation, and also to Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council. We are grateful to these partners, and our friends at the Knights of Columbus, for supporting us to keep this event free for all attendees!

After a hearty lunch, we spent the afternoon developing shared visions for the road ahead, and discussed our intentions to work together for positive change.

Let's do this again really soon, ok!?
