Last month Soldiers from South Carolina National Guard's 246th Army Band traveled to Bogota, Colombia for a Freedom 250 performance at the US Embassy. The concert celebrated international partnership through music and showcased the power of cultural exchange, strengthening relationships and demonstrating how shared experiences can bridge differences and reinforce lasting bonds between partner nations. Big things are happening at the South Carolina Military Museum! 🚧✨

After being safely stored away since last March, our historic military equipment is officially BACK in place! A massive thank you to the hardworking Soldiers of the 122nd Engineer Battalion (SC Army National Guard) and our incredible civilian team for doing the heavy lifting today. 💪

This is a huge milestone in the 9-month, $875K outdoor renovation! We’re working hard to bring you a brand-new outdoor pavilion, fresh landscaping, and an awesome outdoor classroom space. We can’t wait for you to experience the upgrades!

South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently running in 9th place for the best looking cruiser competition. They recently partnered with South Carolina Air National Guard to highlight their cruiser fleet and the awesome Swamp Fox F-16s. You can vote below.

We’re currently sitting in 9th place in America’s Best-Looking Cruiser Contest and we still have work to do! If you haven’t voted yet, you have until July 13, at 12:00 p.m. (EST).

Special thanks to Lance Corporal Lawson for allowing us to borrow his mustang and a special thanks to the South Carolina Air National Guard and the McEntire staff for allowing us to showcase one of their F-16 fighter aircraft!

What an incredible story of service and sacrifice from one native South Carolinian who, this week, was awarded our nation’s highest military honor.

From humble beginnings to an exceptional legacy 🎖

The President awarded Maj (Ret.) James Capers Jr. the Medal of Honor during a ceremony in the White House on Thursday, recognizing his service, sacrifice, and leadership.

Born in Bishopville, South Carolina, Maj (Ret.) Capers is a highly decorated combat Veteran and the first enlisted African American Marine to receive a battlefield commission to officer. He received the Silver Star for "bold leadership, undaunted courage, and complete dedication to duty" for his actions during a 1967 reconnaissance patrol in Vietnam.
