5th Platoon, Class 013-26, conquered Victory Tower and the Fit to Win obstacle course this week! Mastering these challenges early on isn't just about physical fitness—it’s about building the deep trust in yourself and your battle buddies needed to survive the Academy.

This morning, a handful of our combat MOS Drill Sergeant Leaders and a Drill Sergeant Leader Candidate conducted the Combat Field Test!

This test consists of:
-1 mile run
-30 dead-stop push ups
-100-meter sprint
-16 lifts of a 40-pound sandbag onto a 65-inch platform
-50-meter carry of two five-gallon Army water cans weighing 40 pounds each
-50-meter movement drill consisting of a 25-meter high crawl and a 25-meter 3-5 second rush.
-A final one-mile run

Soldiers must complete the test in 30 minutes or less while wearing the Army Combat Uniform, combat boots and with no cover.

Phased implementation began April 17, 2026. Full implementation testing for record begins April 17, 2027. For more information about this test, visit https://www.army.mil/aft/ .

📢 This is not a drill!

This week, the USADSA had the distinct honor to host the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) as their fire and EMS Academy Drill Instructors learned from our Drill Sergeant Leaders about our four core pillars of instruction: Holistic Health & Fitness, Drill & Ceremonies, Rifle Marksmanship, and Warrior Tasks & Battle Drills, plus best practices for instructor techniques! 🚒 ⚕

They also had the chance to lead us for a smoker of a PT session and joined us for PT at the Soldier Performance Readiness Center 💪 Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to learn from us, as we learned from you all, as well. We appreciate everything our emergency services personnel do for our communities and our country.

On Friday, the USADSA Headquarters hosted a Change of Responsibility that marked the end of one remarkable chapter and the beginning of another.

To 1SG John Mougros: words cannot fully capture the gratitude we have for your steadfast leadership, your dedication, and the standard you set every single day. You poured yourself into this mission and into the people around you, and the impact of that service will be felt long after your time here.

🎉 And to 1SG Paris Bledsoe, welcome to the helm! Though, let's be honest... he's no stranger to these halls. In fact, he's been here longer than just about anyone! It is only fitting that someone who knows and loves this Academy so deeply would be the one to carry it forward. We couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.

Here's to new leadership, continued excellence, and the next great chapter of the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy 🇺🇸
