🚧 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝

Work is underway to improve sidewalks along St. Joseph Street between East Ash Street and Park Avenue.

Contractors for the City of Columbia Public Works department are repairing broken sidewalk panels, replacing driveway approaches and improving sidewalk ramps. Work will continue through early November, weather permitting.

Crews will work on one side of the street at a time, keeping the sidewalk on the opposite side open for pedestrians. Signs will direct pedestrians to the appropriate sidewalk and safe crossing points as work progresses.

Parking spaces along both sides of St. Joseph Street will be needed for the work. “No Parking” signs will be posted in spaces needed for construction. Please avoid parking in signed spaces during the dates and times posted on the signs.

Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements to St. Joseph Street.

Starting at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, Lionmark Contracting will begin applying Onyx surface treatment to City streets that received chip seal earlier this year.

Work starts on West Rollins Road between South Fairview Road and Stadium Boulevard. Temporary lane closures will be necessary, so motorists should use caution and consider an alternate route.

Onyx helps seal and protect the chip-sealed surface while providing a smoother finished roadway.

ATTN COLUMBIA: The ramp from U.S. 63 to westbound I-70 (Exit 128) in Columbia is set to close overnight Thursday, Aug. 27, for the placement of temporary barriers. Drivers must use an alternate route during the ramp closure.

If your street received chip seal treatment earlier this year, the next step is coming soon.

Beginning Friday, Aug. 28, Lionmark Contracting will begin applying Onyx surface treatment to 39 City streets that previously received chip seal maintenance in 2026. Onyx is applied over the chip-sealed surface to create a more finished roadway while helping extend the life of the pavement.

Crews will work weekdays from now until Wednesday, Sept. 16, weather permitting, with the exception of Saturday, Aug. 29, which is scheduled as a workday.

Saturdays in September will only be used to make up for significant rain delays. Crews will not work Sept. 5-7 for Labor Day weekend.

Public Works crews will begin staking “No Parking” signs along affected streets Wednesday, Aug. 26. Please follow the dates and times posted on the signs and avoid parking on affected streets during work.

Starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. will close West Ash Street between Bernadette Drive and Clinkscales Road to make emergency repairs to a broken waterline.

The full road closure on West Ash Street will be just west of the entrance to the ARC, 1701 W. Ash St.

Local traffic will be able to access locations such as Gerbes and Shelter Gardens. The ARC entrance on West Ash Street will be closed, and ARC guests should use the entrance on Clinkscales Road.

Through traffic should use alternative routes such as West Worley Street or West Broadway.

Sidewalks in the closure area will remain open.

Work is expected to be completed by the afternoon of Aug. 26. However, weather or other factors may delay completion.

Our Columbia Missouri Public Works crew was out early, giving the MIZZOU letters on 8th Street a fresh coat of paint and helping Columbia get ready to welcome students back.

Whether you’re heading to elementary school, middle school, high school, or college, we’re excited to have you back in our community!

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

The new roundabout at South Sinclair Road and West Southampton Drive is open to traffic. South Sinclair Road has also been resurfaced and striped between Muirfield Drive and just south of John Warner Middle School.

Within the next two weeks, City of Columbia Public Works Street division crews will add a concrete island to the crosswalk south of Crabapple Lane.
