The Charleston office is excited to reintroduce our Foster Parent of the Month recognition, to recognize and celebrate our foster parents! For the month of August, we are recognizing Ms. Sanquan Govan. Her SAFY caseworker, Reeva stated the following:

“I am pleased to nominate Sanquan Govan for August Foster Parent of the Month. Ms. Govan consistently provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing home for children in need. She exemplifies SAFY’s mission through her compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping each child feel valued, secure, and loved.

Ms. Govan goes above and beyond in providing high-quality care and implementing therapeutic foster care services. She remains actively engaged in meeting the individual needs of the children placed in her home and is always open to learning, collaborating, and providing additional support when needed. Her willingness to work closely with SAFY, DSS, and biological family members helps promote stability and supports smooth, child-centered transitions.

Ms. Govan's loving spirit, dependability, and continued willingness to welcome and care for children demonstrate the true meaning of therapeutic foster parenting. Her exceptional commitment has made a meaningful difference in the lives of the children and families she serves. For these reasons, Sanquan Govan is highly deserving of the recognition as August Foster Parent of the Month”.

There are many ways to be part of a child's network of support: mentoring a young person, advocating for family-strengthening services, or simply being a trusted presence for a child or caregiver navigating a difficult time.

SAFY works alongside kinship caregivers, providing education and consistent support to help children experience stability and belonging.
