What if your power bill was based on what you actually earn?

Right now, many South Carolinians are paying some of the highest energy costs in the country and for some families, that can take up to 30% of their income.

That’s not sustainable. And it’s not fair.

A Percent Income Payment Plan (PIPP) is a simple solution:
It caps your energy bill at a percentage of your income so if you make less, you pay less.

Other states are already doing it.
We’re fighting to bring it to South Carolina.

Because no one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and covering their basic needs.

👇 What do you think about this idea?
Should energy bills be tied to income?

Most people use electricity every day…
but don’t actually know how it gets to them.

That’s where the power grid comes in.

It’s the system that moves electricity from where it’s created all the way to your home and when it works well, you don’t think about it.

But when it’s strained?
You feel it.

Higher bills. Outages. Less reliability.

Understanding how the grid works is the first step to understanding why energy costs change and who is impacted the most.

👇 Let’s talk about it:
What’s something about your energy bill that has never made sense to you?

Everybody talks about the work
But we don't talk about the people behind it enough.

On Earth Day, we gave flowers to the woman helping lead the fight for energy justice in South Carolina.

Because leadership like this doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s built through vision, consistency, and showing up every day even when nobody’s watching.

So… we’re showing love.

We’re not just an organization.
We’re a coalition.

Over 80 organizations across South Carolina working together to make energy fair, affordable, and accessible for everyone.

Because right now, too many people are dealing with high light bills, outdated systems, and decisions being made without their voice in the room.

We’re changing that.

From advocating for lower energy costs to pushing for policies that actually serve communities, this work is about making sure energy works for you.

And we’re just getting started.

What’s one thing you wish you understood better about your energy bill?
