Things got a little hot at the end of May. 🔥🚒

Recently, our members participated in live fire training at the Eastern Connecticut Fire School, putting skills, teamwork, and decision-making to the test in a realistic environment.

As you swipe through, you’ll see everything from active fire conditions inside the burn building to forcible entry, hose line operations, and the medical equipment staged nearby in case of an emergency. Training like this allows crews to practice under pressure before the pressure is real.

The goal is simple: when the call comes in, we’re ready.

What have we been up to lately? A lot of training. 🚒

Recently our members worked alongside Windham medics for EMS updates, trained at Mono Pond on forestry operations, and joined the Tolland County Dive Team at Columbia Lake to practice search and rescue procedures.

Different locations, different skills, one goal: continuing to learn and train so we’re ready when our community needs us. 💪

A lot can happen in 30 days. 🚒

April kept our crews moving with calls across the community, from medical responses and vehicle incidents to fire-related emergencies and mutual aid. Every response represents a moment where someone needed help and someone answered the call.

Thank you to our members who continue showing up for Columbia whenever they’re needed.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Because of their sacrifice, we’re able to enjoy the freedoms and moments with family and friends that mean so much.

As you spend time together today, we hope you’ll also take a moment to remember those who gave everything. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day weekend and warmer weather usually mean one thing: people heading for the water. ☀️💦

Whether it’s the lake, beach, or pool, a little awareness goes a long way this time of year. Cold water, changing conditions, and distracted supervision can turn a good day quickly.

When someone in Columbia is having one of the hardest moments of their day, EMS shows up.

This EMS Week, we want to recognize the dedicated members who respond to medical emergencies, bring calm to chaotic moments, and care for our community when it matters most.

As a volunteer department, these responders balance jobs, families, and everyday life, yet still answer the call whenever help is needed. That commitment does not go unnoticed.

Today is International Firefighters' Day. 🚒
