Another Recruitment Open Drill in the books! 🚒

This month, attendees got an up-close look at car extrication training and how our members prepare to safely access and remove patients from vehicles following serious accidents.

Last Wednesday, Kevin Foster was officially sworn in, marking the start of a new chapter serving the Columbia community.

Becoming a volunteer means committing your time to training, learning, and being there when your neighbors need you. We’re excited to have Kevin on the team and look forward to all that’s ahead.

The best way to get started is by attending one of our Recruitment Open Drills. You’ll meet our volunteers, see real training in action, and get a firsthand look at what it’s like to serve with the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department.

Our first Recruitment Open Drill gave attendees an up-close look at a car fire training exercise, the chance to meet our members, and a better understanding of what it’s like to be a volunteer firefighter.

Another month, another reminder that emergencies don’t take a day off. . 🚒

In June, the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department responded to 61 calls, up from 57 in May. Every response, big or small, reflects our volunteers’ dedication to keeping our community safe.

Your fire pit should not still be working after you’ve gone to bed. 🔥🍔

Grills and fire pits can become a problem fast when they’re too close to the house, left unattended, or not fully doused at the end of the night. Throw in wind, dry grass, and no water nearby, and it doesn’t take much for a good summer night to turn into a fire call.
