Going once, going twice… SOLD! 🚜👑

Who knew the 2026 Mule Day Queen, Ava Sykes, had a secret talent for the auction block?! 📣

Watch as Her Majesty channels her inner auctioneer at this year's Mule Day Auctioneers Championship, put on annually by Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club. From practicing her tongue-twisters to hyping up the crowd, she nailed the chant to help auction off a classic John Deere pedal tractor!

🎖️ Honoring a Legacy: Ellie Grace McLeod Named a Paul Harris Fellow

The Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club had the distinct privilege last week of honoring the memory of a truly exceptional Rotarian, lifelong educator, and community pillar — the late Eddie Hickman.

To celebrate Eddie’s enduring legacy of "Service Above Self," our club was proud to name his granddaughter, Ellie Grace McLeod, a Paul Harris Fellow. This recognition is one of the highest honors in Rotary, representing a deep commitment to making the world a better place, a trait Eddie lived out every single day.

It was an incredibly moving morning, made even more special by having Eddie's wonderful family there to share in the moment.

Eddie’s impact on Maury County as an educator and a friend will never be forgotten, and we are so proud to see his spirit of service carry on through the next generation. 💙

Better late than never! We are still thinking about our fantastic meeting back on May 15th.

We were thrilled to host Cory Curtis, Sports Director at WKRN-TV Nashville's News 2! Cory gave us an incredible, insider look at the current status of sports in Nashville — from the collegiate level to the pros. With everything happening in the mid-state sports scene right now, his insights were absolutely spot on.

We also loved welcoming several guests to the club, and of course, it wouldn't be a Breakfast Rotary meeting without some laughs. Let's just say Jimmy D’s latest "contributions" to Patterson’s Paybacks did not disappoint and kept the whole room smiling! 🪵💸

Thank you, Cory, for spending your morning with us and for keeping us in the loop on all things Nashville sports!

This Memorial Day, the Columbia Breakfast Rotary Club pauses to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

As Rotarians, our guiding principle is "Service Above Self."

Today, we recognize those who lived — and died — by the ultimate definition of that creed. They placed the safety, liberty and future of their fellow Americans above their own lives.

We are forever grateful for their ultimate sacrifice, and our thoughts are with the families in our community and across the nation who carry their legacy forward.

Let us commit to living a life worthy of their sacrifice by serving our community, supporting our neighbors and never forgetting the price of our freedom.

The Columbia Breakfast Rotary was out in the community Tuesday morning spreading a little sugar and a lot of gratitude.

In honor of Purple Pinky Day, we dropped off fresh donuts to our local heroes! It’s our small way of saying "thank you" for everything they do, while raising awareness for a massive global goal.

Why the Purple Pinky? 🟣
The "Purple Pinky" is a symbol of the fight to End Polio Now. In many countries, children have their pinkies marked with purple dye after receiving the polio vaccine to prevent double-dosing.

• The Mission: Eradicating polio worldwide.
• The Progress: We are 99.9% of the way there!
• The Goal: Ensure no child ever suffers from this preventable disease again.

"Service Above Self" isn’t just a motto — it’s what we do. And sometimes … it involves sprinkles.

🚰 Water: Our Most Precious Resource

Friday morning, the Columbia Breakfast Rotary had the privilege of hearing from Matt Wheeler, the VP of Water Resources at Columbia Power & Water Systems (CPWS).

As Maury County continues to grow at a rapid pace, understanding the future of our water supply is more important than ever. We took a deep dive into:

✅Current Infrastructure: How our systems are handling the increased demand.

✅Future Planning: The strategic steps being taken to ensure long-term water security for all residents.

✅Community Impact: What growth means for our local resources and what we can do to help.

A huge thank you to CPWS for keeping us informed and for the tireless work they do to keep the taps flowing in our community!

Also during the meeting, we heard from George Vrailas from Noon Rotary about their July 4th essay contest (details on this page!) and bike parade.
