I am incredibly grateful and humbled that Governor Tate Reeves has appointed me to fill this seat. It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to serve our community and represent the people of our district. While I’m honored by this appointment, I know the trust of the people must be earned. I look forward to traveling throughout our district, meeting as many of you as possible, listening to what matters most to you, and working hard to earn your trust and your vote on November 3rd. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend two wonderful events that highlighted the importance of collaboration and education.

I was honored to attend the NCJFCJ national conference, and I’m especially grateful to New Allies for helping make my attendance possible following Marion County’s selection as a grant court. It was an incredible experience that provided valuable insight and the opportunity to connect with others dedicated to strengthening and supporting our communities. I also had the privilege of attending the 30th Annual Family Law Continuing Legal Education Seminar. The event was hosted by Deborah Bell, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to each speaker. Continuing education is an important part of staying informed, growing professionally, and ensuring that we are prepared to serve with knowledge and compassion.

I am grateful for every opportunity to continue learning and building relationships within our communities.

Last week, Tom and I attended Summer School as well as the Mississippi Bar Convention at the Beau Rivage. The convention was a valuable time of learning, and we were especially grateful to share the experience with our daughter, Jalyn, and her husband, Rand.

Celebrating family milestones made the week even more special, including honoring Javan and Natalie’s 10 year wedding anniversary. It’s hard to believe a full decade has passed since they said “I do.” What a beautiful milestone! We also loved cheering on Fenn’s All-Star team as they competed in Philadelphia. Summer is such an exciting time for these young athletes, and we are very proud of how well they have done this season.

I’m always reminded in moments like these how important family and community truly are!

We are having a great day at the Sumrall Lions Club Park celebrating 250 years of freedom.

Proud to be celebrating freedom across South Mississippi today!

We are currently in Picayune for the 250 Years of America: Celebration in the Park at Crosby Commons Park, and we will also set up this afternoon in downtown Columbia for Freedom Fest.
A big thank you to Mejia Gex Johnson and the girls in Picayune, and our son-in-law Jonathan in Columbia for helping make today possible!

We are enjoying being in Picayune visiting with so many wonderful patrons. If you’re in Columbia this afternoon, come find us right next to Crooked Letter Kitchen! I’ll be speaking this afternoon at The Marquee, and you don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
While visiting Columbia, take a moment to stop by Bluff Street Park. The tribute wall has been set up to honor our fallen soldiers. The beautiful flag hanging at the wall is proudly displayed with MDR bucket trucks, serving as a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom.

It was another busy and impactful week across our community.

Earlier in the week, I briefly spoke at a CPS training, where we discussed key topics and continued efforts to strengthen our community. I’m grateful for every opportunity to be present, involved, and working on issues that matter most. I also had the opportunity to speak at the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity event on the new gun law and ongoing concerns surrounding gun violence. It was a pleasure joining Hunter Forbes, Adrian Fortenberry, and Lakisha Bryant-Hall for an important and timely conversation.

On Saturday, we enjoyed spending time at Lumberton Day, where families came together to shop local vendors, enjoy great food, and connect as a community. Also over the weekend, Fenn’s 6U Allstars brought home second place in the district and are now headed to state. We are so proud of his team’s incredible accomplishment that reflects their hard work and dedication.

I am thankful for a district that is filled with opportunities to connect, support, and stay engaged.

We are getting things kicked off this morning at Lumberton Day. This event is a great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy shopping with local craft vendors, indulge in good food, and spend time together in the community. We are proud to sponsor the jumpers and support opportunities that bring families together in our community. Thank you to Keshod Willis, along with John Maroney and the Lumberton Main Street Association, for organizing such a wonderful event.

It was another busy week traveling throughout the community!

On Tuesday evening, I enjoyed attending services at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Walthall County with Ronnie Magee. I am always grateful for opportunities to worship and fellowship with members of our communities throughout the district. On Friday morning, I had the privilege of attending a Drug Court Graduation, which serves as a powerful reminder that second chances can change lives. Watching participants celebrate their accomplishments and hard work was both inspiring and encouraging!

We enjoyed spending Saturday morning at the Blueberry Jubilee in Poplarville, visiting with friends, meeting new people, and talking with voters from across Pearl River County. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of what makes our communities so special, and we are grateful for everyone who took the time to stop and visit with us. After the Jubilee, we traveled to Optimist Park in Oak Grove to cheer on our grandson, Henry, as he played baseball. There is nothing quite like spending time with family and watching the next generation enjoy the game they love. I enjoyed watching teams from Sumrall, Purvis and Poplarville. Oak Grove did a great job hosting the all stars competition!

On Sunday, we attended our regular church service and began preparing for revival services this week. We would like to extend an invitation to anyone looking for a place to worship to join us during revival this week at Edna Baptist Church.
