Shelby County 4-H

Shelby County 4-H This page is dedicated to Shelby County 4-H programming as a link to tie in clubs, volunteers, participants and those interested in learning more about us.

4-H is a "learn-by-doing" youth development
program for boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade. 4-H involves “any kid...any time...anywhere” through one-time events, camps, organized 4-H clubs (with officers), and activities. Youth have an array of choices in their 4-H experience. Whatever energy, creativity and involvement match the 4-H mission, values, and objectives - that is 4-H!

4-H is the youth development and education program of the Alabama Cooperative
Extension System. For nearly 100 years, Alabama 4-H has helped young people become resourceful citizens and responsible leaders. By participating in a variety of programs and projects, youth develop life skills, individuality is valued, and kids are encouraged to discover their own talents and interests. 4-H helps young people learn to make decisions, think critically, build relationships, and develop a concern for their community and their world. The mission of 4-H is to serve all youth. At the heart of Alabama 4-H’s curricula is the belief that programs must instill life-development skills. No matter the subject, 4-H instructs youth in the character values needed to be productive citizens. Alabama 4-H also teaches leadership skills because of its commitment to positive youth development.

They helped support a wonderful cause while raising money to make a difference in the lives of others. We’re so proud of our 4-H members for giving back and serving their community! 🙌✨

Yesterday, some of our Shelby County 4-H Youth Leadership Council members attended the first-ever State 4-H Youth Leadership Council Retreat! They had the opportunity to connect with youth leaders from across the state, develop their leadership skills, and bring back new ideas.

Today, they’ll be sharing what they learned with fellow 4-H’ers during our annual Shelby County 4-H Youth Council Summit. We’re excited to see these young leaders inspire others and put their new knowledge into action! 💚🍀

Our last day at the Central Alabama Marine Council’s Project Pathfinder Summer Camp was a blast! 🚀

Campers learned all about the SLS rocket and NASA’s Artemis program before putting their new knowledge into action by designing and launching their own water rockets. It was the perfect way to wrap up an incredible week of learning, teamwork, and hands-on STEM fun!

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped us make this week unforgettable. Here’s to inspiring the next generation of explorers! 🌎✨
