"There's one thing I hear over and over, from lawyers at all levels of success: 'I feel like I'm barely holding it together, but I can't let anyone see that.'" If this is a sentiment feels familiar, it may be time to think more about the relationship between mental health and the effective profession of law. In "Five Ways Lawyers Can Lead by Example: Promoting Mental Well-Being as a Strength, Not a Stigma," Scott R. Mote offers practical ways and methods to normalize proactive discussion about mental health, with the goal of fostering healthier environments and better lawyers. We thank Scott for his insight, and for reminding us that "lawyers who lead with clarity, ethics, and empathy are the future of this profession, and mental health is part of that equation."
