The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of scammers calling from various phone numbers and claiming to be deputies or investigators with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office.

These scammers are telling victims they have a grand jury subpoena warrant and are demanding payment through Bitcoin, gift cards, or other forms of money.

PLEASE REMEMBER: The Colorado County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call and demand money or payment for a warrant, subpoena, or any other legal matter.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately and contact the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office directly at 979-732-2388, Ext. 1 for Dispatch.

⚠️ Scammers can spoof local phone numbers, making it appear that the call is coming from a local number. Do not rely on caller ID to verify who is calling.

If you believe something is a scam, trust your instincts and verify it directly with the Sheriff’s Office.

📢 Please share this information with your family, friends, and especially those who may not be on social media. You could help prevent someone from becoming a victim.

“Hello, people of Sheridan, Garwood and the Rice ISD area, Texas!

PLEASE SHARE with FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS!

My name is Joosep and I am a University student from Northern Europe, a small country called Estonia 🇪🇪. To keep the community safe, I introduced myself to the Sheriff’s office & gave them all the information needed!

I am going door to door helping families with their education.
I sell educational books & apps with Southwestern Advantage from little babies all the way through ACT preparation.

This is my 2nd summer working with the company and I am very, very happy to say I have been able to help over 100 families with educational resources.
I DO NOT REPRESENT OR AM AFFILIATED with any of the schools.
It is my summer internship and this is the way that I get to pay my way through college.

I sell:
1) Study guides that help parents help kids with Math & other subjects. 📚
2) Study guides that help children save time doing homework & tests 📖
3) Fun and educational kids' books from babies till the end of elementary school to give them a head start for preschool and kindergarten. 🐣
4) Advanced learning materials that help your child excel in AP classes and
SAT and ACT. 💻📲
5) A Leadership Program designed to help students develop the skills and character they need to achieve their goals in life, including life skills, such as confidence, communication skills, finances, leadership, and time
management. 🔑📈

When I knock on your door, then know that I have an accent, please do not be intimidated by that. If you are simply not interested, then I promise I'll
just leave you in a great mood and bid you a good day ☺️

I drive a red Toyota Rav4
My car plate number is WGX 3852, Texas
Excited to meet everyone!
See you at your door! 😄 “

This week, the Colorado County Sheriff's Office had the privilege of hosting ALERRT AAIR (Advanced Active Attack Integrated Response) training at Columbus Junior High. This multi day course provided first responders with realistic, scenario based training designed to strengthen coordination, communication, and response during active attack incidents.

We appreciate the participation of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Park and Wildlife game wardens, Columbus Police Department, Colorado County EMS, and Columbus Volunteer Fire Department. Training alongside one another strengthens our partnerships and ensures a unified response when our community needs us most.

We would also like to extend its sincere appreciation to our ALERRT course instructors and employees with our office, Patrol Lt. Jacob Gorman, Investigator Tyler Pavlicek, and Deputy Zane Blaha, for their professionalism, dedication, and countless hours spent preparing and instructing this course.
