George Taliaferro, a star football player who led Indiana University to its only undefeated season in 1945 and who in 1949 became the first black player drafted in the NFL.

Mr. Taliaferro, A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana in 1945 had a standout high school career in Gary, Ind., Mr. Taliaferro became one of the few black players at Indiana, where he led the Hoosiers in rushing twice and passing once. During his freshman season in 1945, he was the leading rusher on a team that went 9-0-1 and won the Big Ten championship.

How Black history made 5G possible.

Black contributors and innovators like Jesse Russell, who created the 2G network, made smartphones and networks what they are today.
In 1988, Russell led the first team from Bell Laboratories to bring digital cellular technology to the US.
Russell also patented dozens of innovations in wireless technology, including base station tech, which transmits radio wave signals to and from mobile devices.
From 2G to 5G, we carry on the pursuit of Jesse Russell.
Because Black history is American history.

Charles I. Brown, along with A. Langston Taylor and Leonard F. Morse, founded Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity at Howard University on Jan. 9, 1914.

The fraternity holds as its motto, “Culture for Service and Service for Humanity.”

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is a historically African American fraternity. It was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on January 9, 1914, by young African-American male students with nine other Howard students as charter members.
