The Commons is a community gathering place in the heart of downtown Columbus. Building on the strong foundation of the original structure, The Commons opened in April 2011 as a 21st century model for public gatherings and use by the community. The new structure features an expanded indoor playground, complete with a Luckey climber, expanded Miller-Tangeman Lobby featuring Chaos, a Jean Tinguely sc
ulpture created for the original Commons, the Nugent-Custer Performance Hall, The Patio and the Xenia Miller Conference Room (free for not-for-profit organizations to use). For information about rentals of any of The Commons areas, contact The Commons at (812) 376-2681.

This year has held tremendous growth for Columbus Parks and Recreation Department! We wanted to share just a few of the many highlights from 2022:
Our Adaptive Sports Programming launched with Buddy Baseball and Soccer Buddies. Sports tournaments and events generated over $2.5 million dollars in economic impact.
The Commons reopened the redesigned James A. Henderson Playground to the public.
Girls Hockey experienced significant growth and played games in Ohio and Illinois, alongside hosting games with teams from Chicago and Louisville.
Our Park of the Living Dead won the 2022 IPR Creative Event Award.
Our Free, Come Out and Play Summer Playground Program was revamped to incorporate educational elements (like financial literacy) and featured updated recreational equipment, as well as a new centralized location at Donner Park.
Columbus Gymnastics Center implemented both safety and gymnastics coaching training for employees to improve the expertise and efficiency of our teachers.
The Fieldhouse and the Community Center (including the new Parks administrative area) are under construction at Nexus Park! We estimate construction to be finished at the end of 2023.

Your support of the Columbus Park Foundation helps you, your friends, and your community members create lasting memories! Families can make memories together by purchasing fruits and vegetables together at the Columbus Farmer's Market through our Power of Produce Program. The Power of Produce Program gives children in our community vouchers to purchase produce at the Farmer's Market and learn about the farmers that grow the produce.
Your gift to the Columbus Park Foundation this holiday season helps make sure we can keep providing opportunities like the Power of Produce Program for our community to make memories that they will have forever through free and low-cost programs, free trails, free playgrounds, free parks to our community and providing scholarships to children in our community to make sure they can participate in all of our programs.

🛑 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Due to weather concerns for Friday, our Christmas Eve of Eve gathering has been moved to Thursday, December 22nd, at 6:30PM at The Commons.
_______
🎄 Bring your family and friends to join us at the Commons for our Christmas Eve of Eve of Eve Service on Thursday, December 22nd, at 6:30 PM.
This family-style service will feature music, candlelight, and a message of hope and joy as we consider the person and presence of Jesus Christ. After the service, stay for our Christmas Party, where we will enjoy all kinds of Holiday treats and refreshments.
We hope to see you there as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and the joy of the holiday season. Merry Christmas!
The Columbus Park Foundation supports Columbus Parks and Recreation to ensure facilities are available to our community. When an emergency happens, the Columbus Park Foundation steps in to help with the repairs, like when the sound system went out at Hamilton Ice Arena before the Spring Ice Show. The Columbus Park Foundation helped with the repairs of the sound system so the Ice Show could happen and children could make special memories participating in the Ice Show.
Your support of the Columbus Park Foundation this holiday season ensures that the Foundation has the funds available when emergencies like these pop up to keep all our facilities running and available for our community.
