On this day in 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution declaring the creation and design of the U.S. flag. It proclaimed “that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."
May the flag forever wave over our nation, proudly protected by Veterans who have bravely fought for our freedom.

On this day, U.S. Troops and Allied forces launched the largest amphibious and airborne invasion in history, storming the beaches of Normandy, France, to liberate Western Europe from N**i occupation. This monumental turning point in World War II began a costly campaign that ultimately helped secure the freedoms of the modern world.

May we never forget their sacrifice. 🇺🇸

We’re so proud to see of our very own, Angel Walker, take part in honoring our nation’s history alongside the Joseph Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during their annual honors ceremony.

She has been serving veterans in Bartholomew County for nearly a decade, both in our office and as a member of DAR!

The local Joseph Hart chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) conducted its annual service May 21 with special honors awarded for America’s 250th birthday this year.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to reflect on the courage, selflessness, and dedication of those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We encourage our community to take a moment today to remember our fallen heroes, support their families, and honor the legacy they left behind.

From all of us at Bartholomew County Veteran Services, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. May we never forget those who paid the highest price for our freedom.

Our very own Director, Dillon Miller, recently sat down for an interview to discuss the mission of Bartholomew County Veteran Services and the many ways our office works to serve local veterans and their families. 🇺🇸

From assisting with VA benefits and claims to connecting veterans with resources and support, our goal is to ensure every veteran in our community knows they are not alone.
