"Each year more than 20,000 youth age out of foster care, and according to the National Center for Housing and Child Welfare, one in four will be forced to endure homelessness within four years of leaving foster care.

That figure alone is unacceptable. It deprives our nation’s future of productivity and a fulfilled citizenry. But amidst this national crisis, as economic opportunities vanish by the minute, a pipeline from foster care to homelessness is forming."

The prevalence of depression has been increasing in youth, which in turn leads to higher risk of self-harm and su***de. Early identification is essential to prevent the devastating effects of untreated depression in young people. For anyone who can’t find their form or instructions, the census 2020 questionnaire can be completed online at 2020census.gov, or by calling 844-330-2020.

They are also connected to multiple systems, which require and challenge coordinated care. Further complicated by histories of maltreatment and issues in assessment, diagnosis and treatment can be challenging—for children, their families and guardians, and their clinicians.
