Festival weekend is here, and the Columbus Fire Department always enjoys the opportunity to connect with our community during Magnolia Days! 🌸🚒

Last night, our crews were set up in the Kids Zone alongside the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado County EMS, visiting with families and letting kids explore the trucks and equipment.

This morning, members of our department participated in the Magnolia Days 5K alongside the Columbus Texas Police Department, while additional crews staffed a halfway water station to help keep runners hydrated and encouraged along the route.

Our rescue boat was also on the Colorado River this morning assisting with the Duck Derby and helping ensure the event ran safely and smoothly.

At noon, Tower 14 proudly displayed the American flag over the festival grounds during the National Anthem. 🇺🇸

We’re proud to be part of such a great community! Stay safe and enjoy the festival!

This past weekend, six members of CVFD participated in training hosted by ExxonMobil Pipeline Company at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service - TEEX.

We are proud of our members for their commitment to training and protecting our community. We also value the opportunity to train alongside partner agencies and industry professionals in this specialized environment.

The program brought together 40 first responders from 16 departments. Training of this caliber is critical to ensuring first responders are prepared for large-scale, high-risk incidents involving hazardous materials and industrial emergencies. These opportunities strengthen readiness, improve coordination, and directly enhance the safety of both responders and the communities we serve.

We extend our sincere appreciation to ExxonMobil and TEEX for hosting and delivering this high-level training, and for their continued commitment to first responder preparedness and safety.

This week is 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤, and we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible men and women who make up the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department.

Across the country and right here at home, volunteers are the backbone of the fire service. 70% of firefighters in the United States are volunteers. They answer the call at all hours, balance full-time jobs and families, and still show up—ready to serve their communities when it matters most. Every call, every training, every late night, every missed family event—our volunteers show up because they care deeply about this community and the people in it.

Being a volunteer firefighter isn’t just a title. It’s a commitment to serve, to protect, and to be there when it matters most—often on someone else’s worst day.

We are proud of our team and grateful for the dedication, sacrifice, and heart they bring to this department every single day.

To all volunteer firefighters: thank you for what you do and for the communities you serve. We stand proud alongside you.

We want to take a moment to recognize the incredible men and women behind the headsets—our dispatchers.

They are the calm voice in the chaos, the steady hand behind every call, and the critical link between our community and first responders. Before we ever arrive on scene, they are already hard at work—gathering information, prioritizing calls, and making sure we have exactly what we need to do our job safely and effectively.

And sometimes… they even keep things interesting. 🍿🔥

From the occasional “popcorn incident” that has us rolling in to ventilate the office, to the high-stress, life-impacting calls they handle every single day—our dispatchers do it all with professionalism, dedication, and heart.

No matter what’s happening on either side of the radio, they always have our backs—and we’ve always got theirs.

Thank you for everything you do for our department and our community. We couldn’t do this without you.

Happy Telecommunications Week! 💛🚒📞

Thank you, Columbus Volunteer Fire Department, for stopping by and showing your appreciation! 🚒
