This proposed additional investment represents meaningful progress toward maintaining critical shelter capacity and building the sustainable system our community needs.

Sometimes, the most encouraging stories are found in survey numbers.

The 2026 Point-in-Time Count showed a significant decline in youth homelessness across Franklin County:

🔹Unaccompanied youth ages 18–24: down 23%
🔹Parenting teens: down 40%
🔹Unaccompanied youth under 18: down 64%

Behind every number is a young person who has a better chance of staying connected to school, pursuing job training, finding stability, and building a brighter future.

These results remind us that progress happens when a community works together. Housing providers, service organizations, community partners, and people like you all play a role in creating opportunities for safe, stable housing.

At CSB, we’re proud to help bring that community effort together, and we’re even more encouraged by this year’s results.

Sometimes the difference between staying housed and experiencing homelessness comes down to one unexpected challenge.

Imagine a family facing a sudden financial setback such as a medical bill, a reduced work schedule, or a car repair that makes it difficult to get to work. For many households, it doesn't take much for a temporary hardship to turn into a housing crisis.

That's why our community's commitment to prevention matters so much.

Together, we're helping families remain in their homes through prevention and housing stabilization programs that provide support before a crisis escalates. By stepping in early, we're helping neighbors avoid the trauma of homelessness and strengthening our community.

One of the most encouraging lessons we've learned is that preventing homelessness is often more effective and less costly than responding to it after it happens. We're proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but there's more work to do.

Every day in our community, something remarkable happens.

An outreach worker meets someone where they are. A case manager helps a family take the next step toward stable housing. A volunteer gives a few hours of their time. A donor makes critical services possible. Together, those individual actions create something bigger: pathways to housing stability.

The progress we’ve made is the result of people staying engaged and working together.

Every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed.

That's the vision Wesley Moore had when he founded Ours Brothers Keepers (OBK) in 2016. As he puts it, "When we invest in our young people, we strengthen families and build stronger communities for everyone."

Through mentorship, temporary housing, after-school programming, employment opportunities, academic support, and life skills training, OBK helps young people build stable, brighter futures.

At CSB, we know preventing homelessness starts long before someone needs emergency shelter. Partners like OBK are making that possible.

Sudden job loss, a health-related issue, rising housing costs, or an unexpected crisis can greatly affect someone's housing stability.
