Continue to use caution as many of the roads in Wayne are still a mess! Most county roads are still very slick and covered!

🚨 Travel Status Update – Bartholomew County 🚨

Bartholomew County has downgraded its travel status to a WATCH (orange) based on improving conditions across the county. While progress continues, snow- and ice-covered roads remain, especially on secondary roads and less-traveled areas.

⚠️ What this means for residents:
• Essential travel is now permitted, but use caution
• Expect slick spots, packed snow, and icy areas, particularly in shaded locations
• Allow extra time, reduce speeds, and increase following distance

🚧 Road crews will continue working to improve conditions, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as cleanup efforts continue.

🏛️❄️ Operational Update for Tuesday, January 27 ❄️🏫

Due to ongoing winter weather conditions, Bartholomew County Government and City of Columbus offices will operate on remote work, with essential personnel only reporting in person, on Tuesday, January 27.

In addition, Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) will be closed and operate on a snow day with Flatrock-Hawcreek School Corporation closed and operate on E-Learning on Tuesday, January 27.

Please continue to monitor official channels for updates and stay safe during this winter weather event.

🚨 Travel Status Update 1/26/26 PM – Bartholomew County 🚨

Public officials have concluded a meeting to evaluate the latest road conditions across Bartholomew County. At this time, the county will remain under a Travel Status WARNING (Red).

Officials will meet again at 8AM on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, to review conditions countywide and re-evaluate the travel status based on the most current information.

We will share updates following that meeting. Thank you for your patience and cooperation — please continue to stay safe and limit travel to emergency personnel only.

❄️ Bartholomew County Warming Centers – Quick Summary ❄️

Due to extreme cold, the following warming centers are open January 24–30 to provide daytime and overnight relief. Locations include the Community Engagement Center, Brighter Days, and Bartholomew County Public Library branches.

⚠️ Important Update:
• All Bartholomew County Public Library locations are CLOSED on Monday.

🕒 Hours vary by location and day, including overnight hours at Brighter Days.
🚐 Transportation assistance will be provided Saturday evening and Sunday morning/evening between Brighter Days and the Community Engagement Center.

🐾 Service animals only (no animal crates available).
🚿 Food, showers, and sleeping areas are NOT available.

Please review the flyer carefully for specific hours and locations, and share with anyone who may need a warm place during this period of dangerous cold.
