The Ohio General Assembly has approved the mailing of an absentee ballot application to all registered voters. If you haven’t received it already, it should arrive soon.
Here are some facts ⬇️⬇️⬇️
1️⃣ This is an application for an absentee ballot, NOT a actual ballot. Ohio does not send ballots unsolicited, and the mail-in ballot request and delivery process follows a meticulously bipartisan verification and security protocol.
2️⃣ Ohio has mailed absentee ballot applications to all voters for more than a decade. Prior to the statewide mailing, larger urban counties were sending applications which created an unfair partisan advantage against counties that couldn’t afford the mailing. This mailing ensures all voters are treated equally in receiving an application.
3️⃣ Any time a mailing is sent to nearly 8 million people, there will be isolated delivery issues. We want to know about them. Most are due to the complex requirements around voter list maintenance, but we’re ready to review every issue, if you can provide complete details.
4️⃣ As always, it’s a felony offense to fraudulently submit an absentee application or a ballot. If you have evidence or suspicion of any illegal election activity, please report it to our Election Integrity Unit for investigation: https://www.ohiosos.gov/public-integrity/file-a-complaint-with-public-integrity
5️⃣ This is one of the many ways Ohio’s secure, accessible election process remains the national Gold Standard.
