🚲 BICYCLE & E-BIKE SAFETY 🚲

With more bicycles and e-bikes on our streets, safety is more important than ever. Traffic laws apply to riders of ALL ages.

Parents, please talk with your children about stopping at stop signs, riding with traffic and wearing helmets. Avoid riding after dark whenever possible and make sure bicycles have the required lighting and safety equipment when nighttime riding is necessary.

Our officers have been actively enforcing bicycle, e-bike laws and city ordinances, but keeping our streets safe takes all of us.

Please take a moment to review and share the attached flyer. Together, we can help protect riders of all ages.

September 11, 2001 | 25 Years Later

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was attacked.

What followed cannot be measured by a single day or a single number.

We remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel and citizens who ran toward danger to help others, including those who would lose their lives years later because of what they were exposed to that day.

We remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who answered the call in the years that followed. We remember those who never came home, those who returned wounded and the families who carried the weight of their sacrifice.

We remember a nation that grieved together, stood together and endured together.

September 11th was more than a single day in our history. Its impact was felt for years, and its sacrifices are still being felt today.

Twenty-five years later, we honor them all.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

♻️ City of Columbus Receives $36,000 Recycling Grant ♻️

The City of Columbus was recently awarded a $36,000 H-E-B Recycling for Texans Grant through H-E-B and Keep Texas Beautiful. The grant will provide funding for a new paper shredder, scale, label printer and signage at the Columbus Recycling Center.

While recycling may not normally be something you see posted on the Columbus Police Department page, one part of this grant has a direct connection to public safety: helping protect our residents from identity theft and fraud.

The new paper shredder will allow residents to safely dispose of documents containing personal information such as Social Security numbers, dates of birth, account numbers, passwords, and other sensitive information. Properly destroying these documents is a simple way to help keep your personal information from falling into the wrong hands.

Congratulations to the City of Columbus, and thank you to H-E-B and Keep Texas Beautiful for investing in our community!
