Thanks Jim Stafford, John Asel, Mike Kell, and Ken Kaiser for helping us get them from the East and North Key clubs and over to Kroots for recycling.

Thanks to Skip Taylor, Nick Firestone, and Pat Billey from the Bakalar Air Museum for giving us an update on their progress with The C-119 Boxcar restoration process at our Meridian Kiwanis meeting today. To date they have invested over $175,000 in buying, moving, and restoring the C-119 and hundreds of volunteer hours. It will be a great addition to the museum where guests can actually see artifacts inside the cargo area and visit the flight deck. Around 35 of these were flown out of what is now our Columbus Municipal airport when it was the Bakalar Air Field during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

Christina Bailey of Thrive Alliance has asked for the following to be shared: I'm doing a canned meat collection for my clients at work. We're going to use as prizes/ incentives for attending the educational programs & activities. Meat will help stretch their food budgets & get much-needed proteins. Canned beef, chicken, turkey, tuna, beef stew or "hearty" soups like pot roast. If anyone wants to make monetary donations instead I will purchase frozen meat items since we have freezer at work. Any extras will be shared w/ the senior hot meal site clients at community center. Please share w/ any youth groups or civic groups you belong to if they would like to do as a service project. Thank you! Christina Bailey [email protected] 812-379-1109
