Please join us in welcoming Dr. Steven Lower as newly appointed Director of the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences! Congratulations Dr. Lower!

Dr. Lower has a joint appointment as professor in SENR and the School of Earth Sciences. He served as the School of Earth Sciences director from 2021 to 2024 and as associate director of graduate studies from 2017 to 2020. Dr. Lower has taught more than 5,300 undergraduate and graduate students during his career at Ohio State. Dr. Lower earned a BS in conservation biology and geology and an MS in environmental chemistry from Kent State University. He also earned a PhD in mineralogy and microbiology from Virginia Tech.

Congratulations to Jo Peacock for receiving one of the 2026 Agroecology Awards. She is part of the School of Environment and Natural Resources at The Ohio State University. Her work will identify traits that make trees (and the ecosystems they support) more resilient to weather extremes.
