We are saddened by the passing of our former President, Doug Otto.

Doug was a stalwart supporter, steward, and leader of United Way of Bartholomew County and our community for decades. He led United Way through some of the largest changes we have seen in our more than 50-year history and his leadership has helped make United Way what it is today.

His incredible heart was instrumental in building the impact side of United Way, and those initiatives are still helping our most vulnerable neighbors now. It was under his leadership that we have the Doug Otto Center and a thriving, strong social services sector.

United Way, Bartholomew County, and everyone in our community is better because of him.

Rest easy, Doug.

Thank You.

We would like to say thank you to our two outgoing board members – Karl Kissinger and Scott Poling. Both Karl and Scott have been invaluable assets and advocates for United Way and our community, and our organization is stronger because of their commitment to through their volunteering and giving.

Karl has been an integral part of our resource development team and in supporting and helping grow Centra Credit Union’s campaign. His time as board chair was critical in moving our organization forward.

Scott’s leadership as the chair of the Agency Investment Committee helped strengthen United Way’s strong ties to our certified agencies. This work was vital to the partnership growth that has helped the social services sector thrive. First Financial Bank’s campaign has gotten stronger under his stewardship.

Thank you both for the last six years. United Way is better because of you.

In continuing a wonderful holiday tradition, Cummins Inc and Toyota Forklift, teamed up to give to four charities in our community.

Just Friends Adult Day Services, Columbus Firemen's Cheer Fund Advocates for Children, and Community Center of Hope, Inc. received $5,000 each to help advance their missions to make our community better.

These critical dollars will help feed hungry people in Hope, provide for caregivers of people who attend Just Friends, ensure children have gifts on Christmas morning, and will give a voice to children who are in foster care.

Thank you Jennifer Rumsey, President and CEO of Cummins, and Brett Wood, President and CEO of Toyota Material Handling, for being here for Bartholomew County. Both Toyota and Cummins are wonderful corporate partners who give, advocate, and volunteer to United Way and our mission partners.

Our community is better because of you!

“United to mobilize people and strengthen our community”

United Way of Bartholomew County exists to help our community work better together.

We are a network of givers, advocates, volunteers, nonprofits and businesses who work together to create opportunity for all people in Bartholomew County. Our work is focused in three main areas of impact - financial stability, education and access to health. We fund strong nonprofits who are the backbone of our community, mobilize thousands of donors and volunteers each year, and create new, innovative programs that move our community forward.

It takes all of us working together to creating big, lasting change. Can we count you in? Learn more about our work on our website: https://bit.ly/2DSOOCH
