Every day in our community, dozens of people have no place to call home.

They make base camps in their cars. They erect tents and encampments throughout Columbus. They sleep on their friend’s couches. They seek shelter from social service agencies that have shelters for people who are unhoused.

Columbus City Council members are hosting "Navigating Homelessness Together: A Community Conversation," from 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Donner Center.

Thank you to employees at Toyota Forklift for learning more about United Way and some of our partner agencies on their Agency Field Trip.

Each agency shared how the critical work they do day after day helps contribute to a strong, thriving social services sector.

-Human Services, Inc. shared how rising costs and the challenges of living in poverty contribute to generational poverty.
-Foundation For Youth gave employees a tour and showed how their programs offer enriching curriculum and life skills to children in our community.
-Just Friends Adult Day Services went over some of the challenges faced by senior citizens who want to live at home longer -- and how Just Friends helps our neighbors achieve the goal of living at home.
-Sans Souci talked about how their thrift store helps struggling neighbors get low cost goods they need and how their store and programs are a robust job training program for community members who need it most.

Bartholomew County is a better place to live because of partners like Toyota. The social services sector, United Way, and our partners are stronger because of you!

“United to mobilize people and strengthen our community”

United Way of Bartholomew County exists to help our community work better together.

We are a network of givers, advocates, volunteers, nonprofits and businesses who work together to create opportunity for all people in Bartholomew County. Our work is focused in three main areas of impact - financial stability, education and access to health. We fund strong nonprofits who are the backbone of our community, mobilize thousands of donors and volunteers each year, and create new, innovative programs that move our community forward.

It takes all of us working together to creating big, lasting change. Can we count you in? Learn more about our work on our website: https://bit.ly/2DSOOCH
