October is National Energy Awareness Month, a time to recognize the value of businesses and communities to utilize innovation and energy-saving technologies to control and lower their utility bills.

Through OAQDA’s Clean Air Improvement Program, Cotter’s Grove, LLC., in Columbus, is making energy-saving upgrades to its housing development, including improvements to its building envelope, lighting, HVAC, and electrical systems.

The project is expected to reduce energy use by 21.7% and save approximately $54,000 in annual utility costs.

Projects like Cotter’s Grove show how OAQDA financing can help businesses invest in energy-saving improvements that can reduce operating costs and improve building performance.

At the 2026 Ohio Economic Development Association Annual Summit, OAQDA Programs Manager Brooke Grant joined Zach Prouty, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Ohio Treasurer's Office; Ross Cunningham, Deputy Chief, Office of Community Development at the Ohio Department of Development; and Heather Yomboro, Executive Director of Ohio Statewide Development Corporation, for a panel discussion on state resources available to support small businesses.
