Does not instill confidence that State is going to keep the Casinos and Racinos in line. They might want to get some better IT people to create a monitoring system which can handle the volume. "The problem with the machines involved the state’s monitoring system. ... There was a lot of volume, more than predicted, which is a good thing, but there was a problem with some of the machines going down.”

Soon after the opening of the Scioto Downs “racino” yesterday, hundreds of gambling machines were shut down there because the system was overloaded by the high volume of people playing.

Maybe two Casinos will generate more funds to pay for the social fallout.

Economists debate the extent to which casinos will improve Ohio’s job market. While there is no doubt that the casinos themselves will be major employers, it is not clear how many indirect jobs will be created.

The outer shell of the Holly-wood Casino Columbus is taking shape, with construction workers on track to finish the project by next fall. Ameet Patel, the general manager, is watching the progress from his office trailer on the West Side site.

Tracks would not be required to stay open 24/7, but it would be an option.

Gamblers could have access to new electronic slot machines at Ohio racetracks 24 hours a day, seven days a week under preliminary rules approved yesterday by the Ohio Lottery Commission.

Apparently we are no longer a Casino-Free Columbus, but holding it off for 2 years is a success.

A new lawsuit against Gov Kasich, the lottery commission, the Casino Control Commission and the state tax commissioner could effect Racinos and Casinos.

The long-running fight over slot machines at Ohio horse tracks took another turn yesterday when an anti-gambling group sued, contending that two Ohio governors and state legislators thumbed their noses at voters by not giving them a say on the issue.
