STATEMENT REGARDING DELINQUENT TAX NOTICES – USD 247 TAXPAYERS :

Following the mailing of delinquent tax notices, the Cherokee County Treasurer’s Office became aware of an error involving the mill levy affecting taxpayers within the USD 247 School District.

We are working diligently to correct this issue. Once the correction has been completed, an official statement will be released explaining the nature of the error, how it was resolved, and what affected taxpayers can expect moving forward.

We understand that many taxpayers have concerns about penalties, interest, and other fees while this matter is being addressed. Please be assured that taxpayers affected by this error will not be subject to penalties, interest, or additional fees resulting from this issue.

We also recognize concerns regarding the publication of delinquent tax lists in the local newspaper. While we cannot guarantee that affected taxpayers’ names will be excluded from publication, we are making every effort to have those names removed from the delinquent tax list before it is published.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to correct this error. Don't Forget the Courthouse is open normal business hours tomorrow July 3rd and closed Monday July 6th!
However, the State is closed tomorrow so that will limit our transaction for Motor Vehicle. We will "NOT" be able to process "Salvage" or "Re-Built Salvage" vehicles.

Our office will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth National Independence Day federal holiday. Normal business hours of 7am to 4:30pm will resume on Monday, June 22.

Health Department has officially moved to a temporary location!!

Attention! Attention!

The Cherokee County Health Department has moved to a new temporary location at 120 S. Delaware, Columbus Kansas while our new building is being built!

Our Car Seat Clinic and Safe Sleep Clinic will still be held on Friday June 12th at the old location at 110 E. Walnut St. on the parking lot.
