Great news for the City of Mitchell! ๐ŸŽ‰

The city has been awarded a $500,000 Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs grant to remove a blighted building in downtown Mitchell โ€” an important step toward revitalization and future opportunity for the community.

This success reflects a true community effort. Hundreds of Mitchell residents took the time to complete the ARa community survey, helping demonstrate strong local support and strengthen the grant application.

Todayโ€™s award is a win for the City of Mitchell team, its engaged residents, and the ARa team who worked together to secure this funding on the very first attempt.

Weโ€™re proud to support our member communities and look forward to continuing to help them do great things for their residents and their future. ๐Ÿ™๏ธโœจ

ARa is proud to have worked closely with The City of Columbus, Indiana to develop Providing Affordable Construction & Transformation (PACT) and the expanded Columbus Housing Improvement Program, called CHIP 2.0. We reviewed the housing study data, brainstormed opportunities, and worked with the city to create these two programs from scratch. We love making a difference in our ARa member communities.

Columbus City Council members received an update on all things housing during their meeting on Tuesday night, where they heard how a foundation laid in 2024 led to some successes in 2025 and got some details of whatโ€™s to come in 2026.
