A non-profit women's organization, we are the mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, great-grandmothers and grandmothers of servicemen and women who are eligible for membership in The American Legion. Eligibility dates:
April 6, 1917 - Nov. 1918 (WWI)
Dec. 7, 1941 - Aug. 15, 1945 Merchant Marines only eligibility
Dec 7, 1941 - Dec. 31, 1946 (WWII)
June 25, 1950 - Jane

. 31, 1955 (Korean War)
Feb. 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)
Aug. 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984 (Lebanon/Grenada)
Dec. 20, 1989 - Jan. 31, 1990 (Panama)
Aug. 2, 1990 to today (Gulf War, OEF, OIF)

American Legion Auxiliary members have dedicated themselves for nearly a century to meeting the needs of our nation’s veterans, military and their families both here and abroad. They volunteer millions of hours yearly, with a value of nearly $2 billion. As part of the world’s largest women’s patriotic service organization, Auxiliary volunteers across the country also step up to honor veterans and military through annual scholarships and with ALA Girls State programs, teaching high school juniors to be leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism. Join us next Friday, June 16th, at the USO on Camp Atterbury for the 2017 Feed'em for Freedom event, hosted by Walmart!

*Special guest speaker, Medal of Honor recipient Sammy Davis!

The event is open to all current and former service members with their families, as well as employees of Camp Atterbury. It will run from 11am to 1:30pm, so swing by for free food and live music on what looks to be a beautiful afternoon!

It's that time of year again community partners. We will be placing the 3 large wreaths downtown at the Veteran's Memorial on December 10th at Noon. Then on to Garland Brook Cemetery at the Old and New Veteran's sections to place the large wreaths there along with the other 800 small wreaths. If you have a desire to come and help, please contact me (812.376.3341). If you would like to pick up a wreath for a deceased Veteran in another cemetery, you can meet us downtown or at Garland Brook. Thanks to all the officers of the SAL, the donors and volunteers for your assistance in the past.
