Green Lawn Cemetery

Green Lawn Cemetery Enjoy history, artwork, nature, architecture, an arboretum and bird watching.

Organized as a non-profit association in 1848, Green Lawn Cemetery has served Columbus, Ohio over 150 years. Few cemeteries in America can match the natural beauty of our landscaping, trees, and ravines. We offer a vast treasure for Columbus historians, bird watchers, and a peaceful escape for those seeking rest and quiet from the busy city life.

A life well-lived isn't measured in years – it's measured in moments. At Green Lawn Cemetery we celebrate a life well lived and share the human stories that continue to inspire long after a person has passed.

They came to the cemetery and these birders had a good time on Saturday! This is what a cemetery can be when we stop treating it like a place of obligation and start treating it like a place of belonging. Green Lawn hosts walking tours, birding events, cultural festivals, educational workshops, and soon a movie premiere! The guests who come start asking questions, connecting with the place and history. And when the time comes to make their own decisions about planning for themselves they don't dread it. They already have a relationship with this very special park.

We cleaned the Kelton Family lot and Governor Dennison's family lot.

In this case the skipper is enjoying one of the showier flowers, a type of Monarda (also known as beebalm), this one a common Ohio native called wild bergamot.
