Black excellence continues to shape the future of finance and real estate.

Chris Aiken, a Morehouse College graduate, has been appointed Head of Real Estate Equity Strategies at MetLife Investment Management (MIM), where he will lead one of the nation's largest institutional real estate investment platforms.

In his new role, Aiken will oversee direct property investments for MetLife's general account and institutional investors across a wide range of strategies, including core, value-add, opportunistic, and development investments. MIM currently manages more than $106 billion in real estate assets, making this one of the industry's most influential leadership positions.

Before assuming this role, Aiken served as Head of Acquisitions for MIM's Real Estate Equity Strategies Group and previously held leadership positions at Safanad, BlackRock, and Salomon Smith Barney, building a career rooted in investment excellence and strategic growth.

Aiken earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College before completing a Master's in Real Estate Finance at New York University. He also continues to give back to the industry through leadership with the Real Estate Executive Council and the Urban Land Institute, helping develop the next generation of real estate professionals.

Success isn't always about how you start—it's about how you respond to every setback.

Randy Brown, born to Jamaican parents and raised between Springfield, Massachusetts, and Spanish Town, Jamaica, has overcome tremendous adversity to become one of the UFC's top welterweight contenders.

After his mother was deported to Jamaica when he was a toddler and his father was incarcerated for most of his life, Brown returned to the United States at 16 with a dream of creating a different future. He began boxing before transitioning to mixed martial arts, turning discipline and determination into opportunity.

Since making his professional debut in 2014, Brown has built an impressive career, capturing the Ring of Combat Welterweight Championship before earning a UFC contract through Dana White's Looking for a Fight.

Throughout his UFC journey, Brown has experienced both victories and setbacks. Instead of allowing losses to define him, he has continued to evolve, earning multiple Performance of the Night bonuses and showcasing the resilience that has become the hallmark of his career.

His story is bigger than wins and losses inside the Octagon. It is about perseverance, overcoming difficult circumstances, and refusing to let your past determine your future.

🖤 Six Years Later, Chadwick Boseman’s Legacy Still Lives: Representation Can Change a Child’s World

Exactly six years ago, on August 28, 2020, the world lost Chadwick Boseman at just 43 years old. But what he gave us was much bigger than a movie role.

When Chadwick became T’Challa, the Black Panther, millions of Black children saw something powerful on the screen: themselves as the hero.

They saw a Black king. A brilliant African nation. Black scientists, warriors and leaders. They saw strength, intelligence, dignity and excellence celebrated rather than explained.

That matters.

At Reach 4 Your Dreamz, we talk often about the power of exposure and representation because sometimes a child has to see something before they can imagine themselves becoming it. Every little boy who put on a Black Panther costume and yelled “Wakanda Forever!” wasn't simply pretending to be a superhero. He was seeing himself as powerful, courageous and capable of changing the world.

What makes Chadwick's story even more meaningful is what the public didn't know.

He was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and privately battled the disease as it eventually progressed to stage IV. During those years, he continued working and inspiring others while keeping his diagnosis private. He also spent time encouraging children battling cancer—while quietly fighting his own battle.

That adds another dimension to the word strength.

Chadwick once portrayed Jackie Robinson, James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and T’Challa—Black men whose stories represented courage, brilliance, culture, justice and possibility. Through those roles, he helped introduce pieces of our history and our greatness to another generation.

Six years later, children are still wearing Black Panther costumes. Families are still watching his movies. Young actors are still inspired by his journey. And an entire generation will forever remember the first time they saw Wakanda.

That is legacy.

🕊️ Why Our Culture Loved Dolly Parton, Too

The passing of Dolly Parton at 80 is being felt across generations and across cultures. And while Dolly was known as the Queen of Country Music, her reach went far beyond country.

There is a reason so many in our culture loved and respected Dolly.

She had a way of making people feel seen without pretending everyone had the same story. She came from poverty, understood what it meant to start with very little, and never seemed ashamed of where she came from. As her success grew, she didn't simply build wealth—she built opportunities.

And then there is a connection to Black music history that cannot be overlooked.

Dolly wrote “I Will Always Love You,” but when Whitney Houston transformed it into the powerhouse ballad we know from The Bodyguard, Dolly celebrated Whitney's interpretation. Two women from different musical worlds became permanently connected through one extraordinary song. Whitney's recording spent 14 weeks at No. 1 and became one of the defining vocal performances of our generation.

Dolly also earned respect because of what she stood for. She used her platform to support children and literacy, invested in her hometown, created jobs, gave to people facing hardship, and built the Imagination Library, which has distributed hundreds of millions of books to children.

That's something our page understands deeply.

Chequan Lewis, a 2005 Howard University graduate, has been named the new CEO of Crunch Fitness, one of the world's largest fitness franchise brands. His appointment places another HBCU graduate at the helm of a nationally recognized company, leading its next phase of domestic and international growth.

Lewis earned bachelor's degrees in political science and economics from Howard before receiving his law degree from Harvard Law School. Although he began his career practicing corporate law, he realized his passion was not simply advising businesses—it was leading them.

As Lewis explained:

"The reality was I still had this fire burning... to not be a lawyer on the outside of the business, but in the heart of the action."

That decision led him into executive leadership, including serving as Chief Operating Officer and the first Chief Equity Officer at Pizza Hut U.S., before joining Crunch Fitness as president in 2024. Some heroes don't wear capes—they show up with an air conditioner.

Former Harlem Globetrotter and longtime UPS driver James "Big Brown" Joseph has spent the last 17 years helping protect Louisiana's elderly residents from dangerous summer heat.

Through his nonprofit, Big Brown Reaching Back, Joseph recently installed 50 air conditioning units for seniors in Livingston Parish. Since launching the initiative in 2009, he has helped install more than 2,500 air conditioners, while a statewide campaign supported by UPS volunteers has distributed over 23,000 units to low-income families across Louisiana.

His mission is simple but life-changing: ensure seniors on fixed incomes don't have to choose between staying cool and paying for essentials like food or medication.

Joseph's commitment to serving others earned him the 2017 Jim Casey Community Service Award, UPS's highest honor for employee volunteerism. Beyond providing air conditioners, his organization also supports food banks, youth programs, disaster relief, and families facing unexpected hardships.
