Another one on to 24/72 tours, congrats!

Congratulations to the members of IAFF Local 3245 and the City of Tavares on securing a 24/72 work schedule.

As the fire service continues to evolve, departments across Florida are recognizing the importance of firefighter health, recovery, recruitment, retention, and family time. The passage of HB 929 established a 42 hour workweek as a best practice for Florida fire departments, reflecting a growing commitment to firefighter wellness and long term sustainability.

Investments like these strengthen organizations, improve quality of life, and help ensure departments remain competitive in attracting and retaining the best firefighters.

We commend the elected officials and fire department leadership of the City of Tavares for making firefighter health and wellbeing a priority. Their commitment to investing in the people who serve will benefit firefighters, their families, and the community for years to come.

Congrat to our Brothers and Sisters to the north at IAFF Local 2243 on their switch to 24/72!

Tuesday evening the Sylvania Township Trustees unanimously passed a successor labor agreement highlighting a major milestone for the members of Sylvania Firefighters Local 2243 and the community we proudly serve.

This agreement represents what can be accomplished when labor and administration work together with a shared vision and mutual respect. We want to thank the Township Trustees, administrative team, and negotiating committee for their collaborative and proactive approach throughout this process.

Together, we took a forward thinking look at the future of emergency services and developed a schedule designed around what matters most

* Community safety
* Employee health and wellness
* Operational readiness
* Long-term sustainability and fiscal responsibility

This new schedule is an investment in the people who answer the call every day while remaining mindful of the responsibility we have to the taxpayers and community we are entrusted to protect. Rested, healthy firefighters and paramedics are better equipped to provide the high level of service our residents deserve.

This agreement is more than a contract it is a commitment to the future of our department, our membership, and the citizens we proudly serve.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, professionalism, and dedication throughout this process. The future is bright, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community with pride.
