Please join us in wishing our former service Director, Doug Mogle a Happy Retirement.

Doug began his career EMS and with the Cherokee County Ambulance Service many years ago in the 1980s when he became a volunteer EMT. He would then obtain the more advanced certification of EMT-I or EMT Intermediate and eventually take over the reigns of the service in 1989.

During his tenure as director, he has been a staunch advocate of EMS as a whole, but especially in the state of Kansas and southeast Kansas in particular, by addressing various issues that EMS providers face every day with leaders in local government but also at the state level.

Doug is also very active in the community having served as the treasurer for the City of Columbus for many years as well as his membership in various civic and church organizations and serving, along with his lovely wife Becky, as a host family for many foreign exchange students that have come to our area over the last few years.

Although he officially retired back in 2024, he has continued to serve in a more limited capacity as he has been assisting in the transition from one administration to the next. But that all comes to an end very soon as he will completely and officially be retired.

We wish to thank Doug for his countless years of service, not only to the citizens of Cherokee County, but to the EMS community in general.
We would also like to thank him for his leadership, mentorship, and most importantly his friendship throughout his time here with us.

With that, we wish to officially recognize the “full and complete,” retirement of Cherokee County Ambulance Association Service Director Doug Mogle. 🙂

You, Becky, Jacob, and Matt are and forever will be a part of our family and we wish you nothing but the best.

Signed,

The staff and crew of Cherokee County Ambulance Association.

Instructor/ Paramedic Korey Lucian, with the assistance of EMT Robert Burton, participated in a training session tonight at the Columbus Fire Station.

Those in attendance are part of an EMT training course. These women and men will spend the next few months learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be an Emergency Medical Technician.

Tonight’s topics were communicable diseases, how to properly obtain vital signs, and an introduction into the equipment and techniques used to safely move patients.

Training will continue two nights a week for several months and focus on in-house skills labs, a multitude of lecture topics and scenarios and an eventual transition into the field internship phase where they will be allowed to accompany some of our on call crews and not only shadow them but also assist them on calls so as to get a chance to obtain some real wold experience prior to being allowed to sit for their certification boards.

Join us in wishing each one of these candidates the best of luck as they continue on this worthwhile endeavor.
