🎄 Wait… Is It the Holidays Already?! 🎄

Okay, okay… we know it’s still August! 😆 But we’re getting a very early start on our holiday wishlist, and we’d love your help!

We’re kicking things off by collecting gift card donations to help make the holiday season a little brighter for those we serve. 🎁❤️

If you’d like to help us get a jump start on spreading some holiday cheer, consider donating a gift card!

A little early? Maybe. Way generous? Absolutely! ✨

The FCGSB proudly honored Jane Higgins Marx, a founding board member, at our last board meeting in recognition of her 12 years of dedicated service.
During her time on the FCGSB Board, Jane served as Chair and was instrumental in the agency’s initial creation and growth. Her insight, leadership, and commitment have made a lasting impact on our organization and the community we serve.
While her presence on the board will be greatly missed, we are truly grateful for Jane’s dedicated service and the many contributions she has made over the years.
Thank you, Jane, for 12 years of outstanding leadership and service!

Nearly 200 of our clients live with a neurocognitive diagnosis that affects memory, thinking, and daily functioning. Providing care for individuals with these conditions can be challenging, as they may not remember us from one visit to the next. Even so, we remain deeply committed to supporting and advocating for them, ensuring they receive the compassionate care they deserve.

During Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, we recognize and celebrate the dedicated caregivers, families, healthcare professionals, and advocates who help preserve the respect, dignity, and quality of life of those living with these diagnoses. We are honored to be part of that effort and remain committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

One of our main roles as guardians of the person is ensuring our clients are living in a safe and appropriate environment that meets all of their needs. This often means helping them find a new place to call home and assisting with the move-in process.

Finding the right fit can be challenging given the unique and varying needs of each individual we serve, but our team is dedicated to locating the best possible living arrangement to support their well-being and quality of life.

Happy National Moving Month, and thank you to all of our community partners who help provide housing and support for our clients!

During Hospital Appreciation Week, we extend our sincere gratitude to all of the hospital systems across Central Ohio for the compassionate service and care they provide every day. Your teams support FCGSB clients facing a wide variety of medical and psychiatric challenges with professionalism, patience, and dignity.

We deeply appreciate the physicians, nurses, behavioral health specialists, technicians, social workers, support staff, and countless others whose dedication makes a meaningful difference.

Thank you for your commitment to healing, hope, and compassionate care throughout Central Ohio. Your work does not go unnoticed, and your impact is felt every day.

As we celebrate Older Americans Month, we are reminded that aging is not a decline — it is a legacy in motion. Older adults carry stories, resilience, and wisdom that continue to shape our communities every day. Honoring them means listening, supporting, and ensuring they can continue to live with dignity, purpose, and connection.

More than half of the individuals we serve are older adults, and it is truly an honor for our team to walk alongside them through part of their journey.

This month, we celebrate the strength, wisdom, and love of older generations — the people who built the paths we now walk on.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month—a time to recognize that Parkinson’s is more than a movement disorder. While tremors are often the most visible symptom, Parkinson’s can also affect mood, cognition, sleep, speech, and overall quality of life. It’s a complex condition that touches nearly every aspect of a person’s well-being.

That’s why awareness matters. Understanding the full scope of Parkinson’s helps ensure individuals receive not just medical treatment, but the comprehensive, coordinated care they deserve.

At FCGSB, we see every day how critical it is to connect the dots across care. Our work focuses on supporting individuals with a wide range of medical and mental health needs—because no one’s experience is one-dimensional. By coordinating services and meeting people where they are, we help create a more complete, compassionate approach to care.

This month, we stand in support of those living with Parkinson’s and reaffirm our commitment to whole-person care.

Stress Awareness Month continues. As guardians and professionals some tips we try to remember to avoid burnout are:

1- Set Limits
2- Eat, Drink and Sleep Well
3- Maintain Boundaries
4- Make Time for You
5- Don't be a Sponge
6- Engage in Physical Activity
7- Take Time off
8- Talk to Someone

While all of these may not be possible all the time, we know how keeping these in mind as stress increases can truly help in keeping what we do a rewarding and enjoyable line of work, allowing us to show up as our best selves to those we serve.
