Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers and community, our library voter initiative collected more than 1,000 signatures—far exceeding the 562 needed to qualify. Every signature represents a conversation about the importance of a strong, free public library for everyone in our county.

Now, the next step is with the Colusa County Board of Supervisors. At their meeting on Tuesday, August 4, at 8:00 AM, the Board will decide whether to place the library measure on the November 2026 ballot or delay it until November 2028.
We need your voice. Please attend the meeting or submit a public comment encouraging the Board to place the measure on the November 2026 ballot. A strong community presence will show that Colusa County voters are ready to decide the future of their library now—not two years from now.

Thank you to everyone who signed, volunteered, and continues to support our libraries. Together, we're one step closer to securing a dedicated library budget for Colusa County. 📚❤️

📚 The Colusa County Free Library has experienced a loss of $500,000 in funding, resulting in significant reductions to library services. Staffing has decreased from 13 employees to 7, library hours have been reduced, and many programs have been scaled back.

For generations, the Colusa County Free Library has been a cornerstone of our community—providing educational resources, literacy programs, technology access, children's activities, lifelong learning opportunities, a welcoming space, and many more valuable services and programs for people of all ages.

A proposed Colusa County Library Special Parcel Tax Measure Initiative seeks to create a steady source of local funding to help sustain library services for the future.

We invite everyone to take the time to read through the Tax Measure Initiative, learn about what it proposes, and reflect on the role the library plays in our community. Read it here--> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Lq5TKvr06ofiS4BnIBMkX8CiNuHhFbFj/view?usp=sharing

If you support giving voters the opportunity to decide this issue at the ballot box, please consider signing the petition. Signing the petition does not mean you are voting in favor of the measure—it simply allows the measure to qualify for the ballot so voters can make the final decision.
