Before We Criticize, Let’s Recognize
There has been a lot of chatter regarding the City of Colusa’s maintenance of storm drains, leaves, and street sweeping. What many people overlook is that the Colusa city limits encompass roughly 3,000 acres, all maintained by a street department staff of just five employees. That is no small task.
Clearing leaves, maintaining storm drains, and sweeping streets across that much ground requires dedication, professionalism, and pride in one’s work—and our city crews consistently demonstrate all three. Too often, residents blow leaves into the street assuming it is no longer their problem. Once that happens, it becomes the responsibility of our hardworking city employees.
Despite these challenges, the street department continues to show up and get the job done. They are a dedicated and proud group, and their efforts deserve recognition, not criticism.
Good work, boys!
