Colville High School, in collaboration with the Colville Police Department and our local first responders, will be conducting an informational training on Friday, April 24.
As part of this training, the school will host a DUI Mock Crash simulation designed to provide students with a realistic, educational look at how emergency personnel respond to life-threatening incidents. The simulation will extend beyond the crash itself to illustrate the broader and lasting consequences of impaired driving. This includes a simulated funeral and a court hearing in partnership with the Stevens County Courts, helping students understand the emotional, legal, and community impacts that can follow such events.
This experience is intended to promote awareness, reflection, and responsible decision-making. By engaging students in a structured, real-world scenario, we aim to reinforce the importance of making safe choices and understanding how one decision can affect many lives.
We recognize that this type of simulation may be intense for some students. To support all learners, Colville High School will provide open classrooms as an alternative option for students who prefer not to participate. Additional counseling staff will also be available to offer support before, during, and after the event.
We value transparency with our families and community and are committed to ensuring this event is conducted in a safe, respectful, and age-appropriate manner. We encourage families to use this opportunity to have meaningful conversations at home about safe driving, decision-making, and looking out for one another.
