We would like to extend our sincere thanks to local law enforcement, EMS and first responders, Mt. Carmel Hospital, Life Flight, prosecution, judge, defense attorney, Danekas Funeral Home, the coroner’s office, as well as CHS students and staff who played key roles, for volunteering their time and resources to support today’s Mock DUI presentation for the CHS student body.

This powerful, collaborative effort not only provided valuable, real-world training for emergency personnel, but also left a lasting and meaningful impression on our students. One we hope will stay with them far beyond today.

If this experience helps even one student pause, make a safer choice, or speak up when it matters most, then every moment and every resource used to bring it to life was worth it. Our ultimate goal is simple: that every one of our students makes it home safely.

Colville High School, in collaboration with the Colville Police Department and our local first responders, will be conducting an informational training on Friday, April 24.

As part of this training, the school will host a DUI Mock Crash simulation designed to provide students with a realistic, educational look at how emergency personnel respond to life-threatening incidents. The simulation will extend beyond the crash itself to illustrate the broader and lasting consequences of impaired driving. This includes a simulated funeral and a court hearing in partnership with the Stevens County Courts, helping students understand the emotional, legal, and community impacts that can follow such events.

This experience is intended to promote awareness, reflection, and responsible decision-making. By engaging students in a structured, real-world scenario, we aim to reinforce the importance of making safe choices and understanding how one decision can affect many lives.

We recognize that this type of simulation may be intense for some students. To support all learners, Colville High School will provide open classrooms as an alternative option for students who prefer not to participate. Additional counseling staff will also be available to offer support before, during, and after the event.

We value transparency with our families and community and are committed to ensuring this event is conducted in a safe, respectful, and age-appropriate manner. We encourage families to use this opportunity to have meaningful conversations at home about safe driving, decision-making, and looking out for one another.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact the Colville High School front office. Thank you!

Today, Colville High School and the Colville Rotary Club teamed up to create an incredible Career Fair and Trade Show right here on the CHS campus. We were blown away by the outpouring of community support, with exhibitors traveling from Stevens, Pend Oreille, and Spokane counties to invest in our students.

CHS and Colville Junior High students, along with several neighboring schools, had the opportunity to explore careers, ask questions, and start imagining what their futures could look like. And that matters more than ever. Research shows that students who begin exploring career pathways early are significantly more likely to graduate high school, pursue postsecondary education or training, and secure higher-paying, more stable careers. In fact, students who connect their education to real-world opportunities are up to twice as likely to stay engaged in school and make confident plans for their future.

Today wasn’t just an event it was a launchpad. We saw curiosity spark, connections made, and possibilities take shape.

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the many businesses, organizations, and industry professionals who took time out of their day to invest in our students. Your presence made a lasting impact.
