Property taxes are the primary source of government revenue in Texas. These are local taxes, based on appraised value and adopted tax rates, that help to pay for public schools, city streets, county roads, police, fire protection and many other services. Please note the Comanche County Tax Assessor-Collector only collects property tax on behalf of the taxing jurisdictions. We are not responsible

for the setting of tax rates or determining property values. Your tax rates are set by the governing bodies of the applicable taxing jurisdictions for your property. You are encouraged to express your views at your taxing jurisdiction’s meetings and tax rate public hearings. Information about dates and times are posted in local newspapers and on taxing jurisdiction websites prior to the hearings and on this page. YOUR TAXES OWED CAN BE CALCULATED AS FOLLOWS:

Tax Assessor-Collector in Texas has the following duties:

Calculates property tax rates for the county
Collects property taxes for the county
May collect taxes for cities, schools and other local taxing entities
Processes motor vehicle title transfers
Issues motor vehicle registration and license plates
May process boat titles and registrations (we do not)
Registers voters and may conduct elections (Voter Registrar)
Comanche County Clerk conducts elections
Collects various other fees for the state and county

Good chilly evening Comanche County! I may have posted already but ... we will be collecting 2025 property taxes through February 2, 2026 without penalty and interest. The 31st falls on a weekend. Stay tuned for additional updates. Thanks. Stay warm, safe and blessed.

UPDATE: The system for vehicle Registration is up and running!

UPDATE: The problem is with Frontier. It's a mess and will be for a while. I expect it will be down for the remainder of the day.
The Motor Vehicle Department is down. A trouble ticket has been called in. Will update when it is up.

For the folks that are wanting to pay their 2025 taxes using the Half Pay Plan (1/2 by November 30, 2025 & 1/2 by June 30, 2026) can pay on Monday, December 1, 2025 since November 30th falls on a Sunday. This applies to in-person, postmarked date and online. Have a blessed weekend and a Merry Thanksgiving!
