Congratulations to Fire Chief Bob Olme, Fire Marshal Jay Willmott, and Engineer Chris VanDijk on successfully completing the 2025–2026 Commerce City Leadership Program.

This year’s Leadership Commerce City program was led by South Adams County Fire Department’s own Deputy Chief Randall Weigum. Throughout the program, participants strengthened their leadership abilities, gained valuable insight into critical community issues including economic development, education, and public safety and built lasting relationships with local leaders and organizations.

We are proud of their commitment to professional growth and continued service to our community. Congratulations to all the LCC graduates 🎉

SACFD crews responded to a motor vehicle accident at approximately 11:38 p.m. last night. The incident originated as a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 270 before one of the involved vehicles left the roadway, entered a residential area, and struck a home near 54th Avenue and Leyden Street.

One person in the residence and the driver sustained minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the appropriate authorities.

SACFD crews responded to a structure fire near 104th Avenue and Walden Street at approximately 3:15 pm.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle fire inside the garage. With multiple units on scene, crews quickly brought the fire under control and prevented it from extending into the residence.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Thank you to Brighton Fire Rescue District for assisting.

SACFD crews responded to a reported structure fire at approximately 6:45p at 112th & Newark Court. Upon arrival, firefighters located a fire on the rear exterior of the residence and were able to quickly contain and extinguish it, preventing further extension.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We would like to thank our partner agencies, City of Thornton Fire Department, Brighton Fire Rescue, Commerce City Police Department, and Platte Valley Ambulance Service, for their assistance and coordinated response.
