Big news again for Jackson County Emergency Services-
Our West Jackson station is now stocked and carrying blood products! This is done to minimize the time to get whole blood and plasma to the scene in this area. Time is muscle and we are now ensuring the residents of this area can get life saving equipment to them in a timely manner before transportation to definitive care. Thank you to our Commissioners, County Manager, EMS Management, and citizens for continuing to put your trust in us!

[Update] 11 AM Tuesday: Confidence is growing for a strong overnight system to produce severe weather over Georgia. An Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) has been expanded to include a larger area, including portions of the Atlanta metro, Columbus and Macon. A Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) continues for the remainder of north and central Georgia. Damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, hail up to one inch or more, and frequent lightning will be the primary threats. Stronger storms may also produce locally heavy rain. Although storms could move into northwest Georgia as early as 6 PM, the highest threat will be after 9 PM tonight, continuing overnight through sunrise Wednesday.

Tomorrow, BCFD and Banks County Sheriffs Office along with multiple other agencies will travel to Lagrange GA to provide our HERO an es**rt to McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home where the family willl make final plans to lay Richie to rest.

We will travel I85 (through Banks County) to the Commerce GA exit. Our best calculation is that we will be coming thru Banks County at approx 3:45 PM. If you would like to line the roads to show your respect to Richie Alford, please do so.

Today, we received a phone call that no one wants to get. We lost a friend and brother not just a coworker. We are devastated and heartbroken.

Richie Alford assisted two distressed swimmers in Panama City Beach today that were caught in a rip current. Unfortunately, Richie was not able to make it back to shore. Richie died doing what he loved which was helping others in their time of need. He is a true hero.

Please keep Richie’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks to come.
