The fire department and Brothers in Law annual food and toy baskets is in the books. What a year it was! Together we passed out 60 food and toy baskets for 138 kids throughout the county. This year was special because we reached out to organizations within the community for help, and they showed up. A big thank you to the following people and organizations for your support: Eagle Lending, Dairy King, Tiny Tigers Childcare, Garrett’s Mini Storage, R6 Recycling, Eagle Motors, Jonathan Duboise CPA, East Central Pawn, and Allen Sign. Without their assistance, we wouldn’t have been able to do everything we did for the community.

12/21/2022

***EDIT*** Santa has left.

Santa Claus will be at Commerce Fire Station while are are handing out baskets if anyone wants to stop by and get a picture with him!!!!

3pm update from the NWS hasn't changed much from this morning. Precipitation amounts can change as we get closer to Thursday. A brief period of icing could occur before precipitation turns over into snow. Heaviest impacts are expected to be in Nowata, Craig and Ottawa County. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph could cause near blizzard like conditions. Travel will be close to impossible. Dangerous temperatures could last for up to 100 hours. This could cause drains on the power grids and pipes will be vulnerable to freezing. Start preparing now. Have 5 days worth of medicines and food for you and your pets. Be prepared and continue to check our page for updates.

244 AM CDT WED SEP 28 2022
..HIGH FIRE WEATHER DANGER TODAY IN EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND WEST
CENTRAL ARKANSAS...

PERSISTENT DRY CONDITIONS AND VERY LOW AFTERNOON RELATIVE
HUMIDITIES WILL CREATE A HIGH FIRE WEATHER DANGER TODAY ACROSS
MUCH OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND WEST CENTRAL ARKANSAS. HIGH
TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S TO NEAR 90 DEGREES WILL LEAD TO MINIMUM
RELATIVE HUMIDITIES FROM 20 TO 30 PERCENT IN THE AFTERNOON. EAST
TO SOUTHEAST WINDS AT SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 5 TO 15 MPH MAY ALSO
GUST TO 20 MPH AT TIMES, LEADING TO LOCALIZED NEAR CRITICAL
GRASSLAND FIRE SPREAD RATES. CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE
DURING THE EARLY EVENING AS HUMIDITIES INCREASE.

AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY START A FIRE,
INCLUDING DISPOSING OF CI******ES PROPERLY. REPORT ANY WILDFIRES
TO LOCAL OFFICIALS.

09/27/2022

FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK
253 AM CDT TUE SEP 27 2022
..HIGH FIRE WEATHER DANGER THIS AFTERNOON NORTH OF INTERSTATE 44...

WELL ABOVE NORMAL AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES, INCREASED SOUTHERLY
WINDS, DRY LOW LEVEL AIR AND EXISTING DROUGHT CONDITIONS WILL
LEAD TO INCREASED FIRE WEATHER CONCERNS THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS
PARTS OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA TO THE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 44. HIGH
TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 80S AND LOW 90S WILL CONTRIBUTE TO
MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES NEAR 20 PERCENT. SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST
WINDS AROUND 10 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED IN MUCH OF THE AFFECTED AREA,
ALTHOUGH SLIGHTLY HIGHER SPEEDS, FROM 10 TO 15 MPH AND GUSTING
NEAR 20 MPH, WILL BE FOCUSED IN PARTS OF OSAGE AND PAWNEE
COUNTIES. NEAR CRITICAL GRASSLAND FIRE SPREAD RATES ARE FORECAST
FOR MUCH OF THE AREA WEST OF HIGHWAY 75 WHERE WINDS WILL BE
HIGHEST, ALTHOUGH LOCALIZED NEAR CRITICAL VALUES MAY BE FOUND
IN AREAS FARTHER SOUTH AND EAST.

FOR ANY ONGOING FIRE FIGHTING EFFORTS THAT PERSIST INTO THE
EVENING HOURS, A FRONT IS EXPECTED TO PUSH SOUTH OF THE KANSAS
BORDER MID TO LATE EVENING, LEADING TO A WIND SHIFT TO A MORE
EASTERLY DIRECTION.

AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY START A FIRE,
INCLUDING DISPOSING OF CI******ES PROPERLY. REPORT ANY WILDFIRES
TO LOCAL OFFICIALS.

FIRE DANGER STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK
234 AM CDT WED SEP 21 2022
..HIGH FIRE DANGER WILL EXIST THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS PARTS OF
NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA...

ONGOING DROUGHT CONDITIONS CAUSING HIGH END FUEL DRYNESS ALONG
WITH AFTERNOON HIGH TEMPERATURES NEAR 100 DEGREES, MIN RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES IN THE 20-30 PERCENT RANGE, AND SOUTH-SOUTHWEST
WINDS GUSTING TO AROUND 20 MPH WILL COMBINE TO CREATE HIGH FIRE
DANGER ACROSS PARTS OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA TODAY. THESE CONDITIONS
WILL CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR RAPID FIRE SPREAD AND ERRATIC
BEHAVIOR OF WILDLAND FIRES ESPECIALLY IN AREAS WITH HEAVIER BRUSH
OR GRASSES. THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR RAPID FIRE SPREAD WILL
GENERALLY BE TO THE WEST OF HIGHWAY 75, WHERE GRASSLAND FIRE
SPREAD RATES MAY APPROACH 200 FEET PER MINUTE.

AVOID OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY START A FIRE,
INCLUDING DISPOSING OF CI******ES PROPERLY. REPORT ANY WILDFIRES
