Como Library is a gathering place, a learning portal, an archive, a hub, an information center, a hill country music guide and, most of all, a proud member of its community. Como's public library had beginnings as The Immortelle Book Club in 1902 and a spin off reading circle was formed sometime before 1920 with citizens purchasing and donating books that circulated every two weeks. In 1952, Como
's public library joined the First Regional System. In 1977 the library was dedicated the Emily J. Pointer Public Library at 104 Main Street. In 1995, the library underwent renovations to its current capacity. In addition to a sizable book collection, the library boasts movies, music, newspapers, periodicals, faxing and copying services as well as computer, printer and Internet access including WiFi and meeting room space. The library is a Literary Landmark in honor of noted Mississippi author, Stark Young. Programs include: monthly Scrabble club, UnWind Wednesdays (knit and crochet), Luv That Body Conditioning Class, toddler storytime, Summer Library Program, CATALYST (Como Altruistic Teen and Library Youth Serving Together) programs and Community Read.
