There’s a ton going on this weekend. Check out the Pax River Air Show all weekend. I went yesterday and it was awesome! You’ll find thrilling air displays and over a dozen accessible aircraft on the ground to explore.

The event is supporting local businesses, bringing tourism dollars over the weekend, and helping to highlight what makes St. Mary’s County unique.

Don’t miss Juneteenth today from 12-6 at the fairgrounds in Leonardtown. Stop by my table and say hello!

I appreciate the time shared tonight with those at the Cedar Lane Tenant’s Association meeting! The conversation was one I enjoyed, and I’m thankful for all those who asked questions, offered feedback, and who were present for the discussion.

Looking forward to continuing this discussion often as their next Commissioner for District 2!

Excellent event last night at Historic Sotterley to discuss the new book “The Kane Family: Slavery to Freedom at Sotterley.”

The book compiles writings of Agnes Kane Callum, former member of Sotterley’s Board of Trustees, whose ancestors were enslaved at Sotterley.

Callum and John Hanson Briscoe, whose family once owned Sotterley and Callum’s enslaved ancestors, worked together in the 1990s to begin what would become the Descendants Project.

The county has so much history, and I’m glad to see it being preserved here.
