📸 Taking updated, professional photos of our fire trucks, ambulances, equipment, station, and personnel

🎥 Creating promotional videos highlighting our department, equipment, training, and services

We’d love to work with someone who is creative and can help us tell the story of Concan Fire & EMS and the men and women who serve our community.

This could be a local photographer, videographer, content creator, or someone looking to build their portfolio.

đźš’ NEW ADDITION TO CONCAN FIRE & EMS

During the recent flood event, our crews faced challenges that showed us a significant need for a 5-ton high-water vehicle capable of operating in conditions where our traditional emergency vehicles may not be able to safely go.

We’re excited to announce that Concan Fire & EMS has purchased this 5-ton truck to help strengthen our response capabilities during future flooding and other emergencies.

Over the coming weeks, our crews will be giving the truck some much-needed cleanup and maintenance and beginning the process of outfitting it for emergency response operations.

Every major incident gives us an opportunity to evaluate what worked, identify where we can improve, and make sure we are better prepared for the next emergency. This truck is another step toward ensuring our crews have the equipment they need to reach and assist our community when conditions are at their worst.

There’s plenty of work ahead, and we’re looking forward to showing everyone the transformation!

We’re happy to report that all roads are open, the weather is beautiful, and business is back to normal!

It’s a great day to get out and enjoy everything the Frio River area has to offer. We encourage everyone to come out, support our local businesses, and enjoy a safe day with family and friends.

As always, stay aware of your surroundings, practice river safety, and have a great time. We look forward to seeing everyone in Concan!

We want to thank everyone for their swift actions and cooperation today as the rain moved into our area. Thanks to everyone looking out for one another, we’re grateful to report that there were no injuries.

The Frio River should begin clearing up nicely over the next couple of days, which is great news for all of our visitors planning to enjoy the river.

At this time, there is no reason to cancel your reservations. We look forward to welcoming everyone and hope you have a safe and enjoyable visit to Concan.

Thank you to our first responders, partner agencies, local businesses, and the public for staying alert and working together to keep our community safe. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.

As always, we’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if anything changes.

🚨 ATTENTION – RIVER SAFETY ALERT 🚨

Concan Fire & EMS is activating the emergency siren to notify everyone on the river to exit the water immediately.

The Frio River has risen approximately 300 CFS, and with storms moving through the area, conditions can change quickly.

At this time, we are NOT calling for an evacuation. We are simply asking everyone to:

* Get out of the river.
* Move away from the riverbanks.
* Seek higher ground. If you have to drive please drive safely.

Our crews are actively monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed.

Please help us spread the word and keep everyone safe. If you see someone still on the river, let them know it’s time to get out.

🌩️ Weather Update 🌩️

Please be aware that storms are moving into our area. If you have to be on the road, slow down, allow extra travel time, and drive safely. Remember, never drive through water if you encounter flooded roadways.

At this time, we do not expect these storms to last very long, but we’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if needed.

If you need assistance, don’t hesitate to call 911. Concan Fire & EMS is standing by and ready to respond. Stay safe!

We also had a cell phone turned in to the station. If you believe it may be yours, please give us a call and be prepared to describe the phone (make, model, color, case, wallpaper, etc.). If your description matches, we’ll be happy to get it returned to you.

Concan Fire & EMS responded to a report of a 4-year-old child who had drowned in a pool, with CPR in progress.

Our crews, along with responding partners, immediately began extensive lifesaving measures. Air medical transport was requested, and the child was transported by air to the hospital for further treatment.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the child, the family, and everyone involved in today’s response. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

🚨 THANK YOU TO OUR SWIFTWATER PARTNERS 🚨

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to the Texas Task Force team out of Dallas for deploying to our area and working alongside us on the Frio River. Their deployment ended yesterday, and we are extremely grateful for the time, experience, and support they provided to our community.

As their team heads home, Fort Worth crews are now here to take over and continue assisting with river operations.

A majority of these teams’ time has been spent helping people who become trapped in hydraulics, especially around Bunk Falls.

🌊 What is a hydraulic?

When water flows over a drop, ledge, or waterfall, it can curl back upstream underneath the surface, creating a powerful recirculating current. A person or tube can get caught in this circulation and be repeatedly pulled back toward the falling water, making it extremely difficult to swim out.

Even when the river looks calm from above, the forces around waterfalls and drops can be dangerous.

Please walk around waterfalls and falls, wear a life jacket, and never underestimate moving water.

Thank you again to the Dallas team for answering the call, and welcome to the Fort Worth team. We appreciate all of our partners working alongside Concan Fire & EMS to keep everyone on the Frio River safe.
